Some forums are now running with a different advertising setup. On average this means they will devote quite a bit less screen space to advertising, with the trade off that the advertising is arranged more prominently.

Hi Admin - is it possible to go back to the old style of ads.

I don't like this as it looks too pushy and 'in your face' whereas the other ads were only in one place and blended in well.

The main reason I chose myfreeforum over the other free forums available was that it didn't have these ads.

A well established member on my forum has complained by pm already that I am simply trying to make money from them now that the forum is more established.

My forum is at:

The owner of the sites make no money from these adverts, but these adverts make money for myfreeforum which then of course keep our forums free.

No one likes changes it seems but to me having a few ads under the last post is no problem and i infact prefer it this way.

If you look at other free forum systems they tend to devote a lot more space to the advertising than we do.
We need to earn money on adverts to keep the system running fast, and so are experimenting with different ideas.
The in posts ads only show about 30% of the time and take less space.

We cannot let some forums opt out of a scheme that is important to keeping everyones forums up and running. That would not be fair.

I would much prefer adverts to appear at the top of every page on the forum all the time rather than getting included with posts. On my forum I have many people who are not very computer savvy and find it very confusing to have adverts 'randomly appearing' in their posts.

We do have a real need to get more out of advertising. A few small adverts that don't appear all the time, but do appear in peoples field of vision, seems the most benign way of doing this.

There is no such thing as a totally free lunch, and I guarentee anyone that they would be shocked at how little the advertising was making. Do people want fast servers, fulltime employees working in improving the system etc?

I fully understand the need of the adverts on the site, and i don't mind having them, i also would not mind if they were a bit bigger and appeared at the top and bottom of each page, but it's having them included within a post that many of my users find confusing.
Also, is there also any way of helping google understand the theme of a forum so the adverts are more relevant?

Adverts "contextulize" to forums over time. So do sometimes get to the point where many people like them. We have people who have paid to go advert free but have been happy to see the adverts reinstated as they add interest as they do get pretty relevent.

Personally I would hate more advertising space being used at the top of the site.

Well, as Admin is the ADMIN... I'd say his opinion is more crucial.. the question I have is this...

If the adds make more money inline, then admin can do more things for us... for FREE... isn't that what people like?

Admin, do what you have to!

Admin. 70% of the people are complaining. Are you making more money this way or is it the same as the other way?

If it's the same as the other way then put it back.. If not then keep it this way only if it's getting you more income
