Editing your own styles. Some resources to read.

Before you can edit a template you must create a template for your forum based on an existing template. You are allowed four such templates.

If you then edit the template you should be able to simply upload an image to replace your existing logo, using the form provided.

You can then use "Adminstration Panel/Styles Management/Add" to install the newly created template. If you then select the template in "Adminstration Panel/Configure" you will see your new logo.

You can also use upload image to replace other graphics by using alternative graphics of the same name and dimensions.

If you want to go further than altering the logo, then please read the information below.

Editing templates can render a forum unusable.

If you are going to edit a template then you must take the following precaution.

Create a new user with admin powers with the name "editor".

This user is unique in that they will always see the template/style set in their profile, regardless of "Override user style" being set.

Always! test style changes using this user. If a severe problem occurs, you can always force a logout by clearing cookies.

You will then be able to login as the normal admin user and fix the problem.

It is also a good idea when editing to use copy and paste to save a working copy of a file on your own PC.

This whole area is for advanced users only. myfreeforum.org will only support you by overwriting an edited style with a working style if you get yourself in a mess!

You must not make edits that prevent the adverts showing with normal prominence. If it is found you have done this, your forum will be suspended, and you will be charged for reinstatement.

Just ignore the stuff about ftp, you will be editing your templates via the administration panel. When you create a template from another tempate in the administration panel, all the text substitutions mentioned will have been automatically done for you.

The MFF guide looks good. Not confusing, and written in a language that people without too much computer knowledge can understand. I did notice a few typos, however, buit I guess that is OK as that was just recently created.

It is late again and I am tired so I'll have to check it tommorrow or another day, but I have one quick suggestion. I have noticed that on the guide it says "whilst" a lot. That sounds a little snobby to me, compared to while, although I am not sure how frequently that word is used in the UK, but in the US it is nonexistant, and if you were to say that word, people probably wouldn't understand. Maybe you should consider changing it. This is only a very minor problem, however, and is not really necessary. It is more like an opinion.

Can you explain more? If you have create a duff template, you can overwrite it all by creating a new one.

I see in template:

you are over quota. But you can select unused images from the select image list and delete them. For example the german language images, or the old phpbb logo.

The image quota is 300kb per template.

We may adjust this in future, but at the moment I like keeping the quota here as it does enforce people keeping the system tidy.

In my opinion, the quota should be upped to at least 400 because a lot of templates already have it OVER 400, forceing you to delete quite a few 1-2K pics just to upload another.
