With the exception of one part of the update which requires in our view considerable further testing. The forums have been updated to use phpbb 2.0.18 which was released a couple of days ago.
This upgrade was very intensive effecting over 50 files.
An obvious effect of such a massive change, is that other planned changes such as smiley catagorisation will have to wait a little longer.
One of our main aims is stability and this would not be served by making further changes soon after such a major patch.

What more can be said? a massive set of changes has occurred in the last few days, which had to be done, and which has obvious implications in terms of what other changes we might have wanted to do. _________________

No, I mean, of what advantage was this upgrade? What can we do now that we could not before? Is it just a metter of speed? Is it a metter of security, or perhaps convenience? _________________

now that is a question
possibly it means sod all, some of the changes were as silly as code indentation, none of the changes fixed clear security issues! but all the same we have to keep to the path... _________________
