Just a quick update. There is still another change planned from Saturday but a significent problem with the server was resolved this morning.

To keep people up to date.

There is still a significant piece of optimisation left to do.

But there is a lot to be said for the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" view.

Since about mid week when the current upgrades were fully completed. Things have so far as I have seen been flying along.

When things are as fast as they are, it is actually much harder to judge the impact of a change.

So I think further changes will wait until they are needed.

The other point to remember is that presently there is no prospect of a real crisis point on speed. I have seen some free forum system perform poorly for weeks and months.

We on the other hand have plenty of spare capacity waiting in the wings, "almost ready" for rolling out. At some point when this happens a number of the larger forums will be switched to another server and there may be a few issues and a few hours downtime the first time we try this on the live servers. But on the test servers we can flip forums to another server and back with great speed and transparency
