It seems half the support issues are people using the wrong address for forums.
This has now been blocked on one server, and will start being blocked on all servers assumming nothing to drastic happens as a result.

Users will be told the correct forum address and will have to click to go there.

Well hopefully not, as they will see a page with a link to their forum and with a message about clearing cookies to deal with login issues.

Ah right. I just tested it on this forum and saw that message. Great idea!

It's funny actually, we have spent weeks telling people about the evils of "www" as it may not work, and guess what! On some more investigation of what happens on different servers I find that "www" does not get you to the forum at all. Or for that matter give you a warning message.

In one sense this is no big deal, as we have never ever told anyone that "www" is there. However given people do use it, it would be better if "something" always happened. So I will be updating the nameserver code to make "www" alive for forums, only then to show people the message not to use it Wink

Forwarding is another thing we do not support as such.

If a domain can be "pointed" at us we will set things up properely to ensure things work ( for a small donation) but otherwise it is pot luck.
