PLEASE ENTER THE FOLLOWING>>>>

Enter your myff forum url here, if the issue is on a particular part of the forum, then give a link to where the problem actually is. Do not enter your own domain name it must be the actual myff link : http://forestchat.myfastforum.org

If you are asking a template related question, what is the name of the template:

Please indicate keywords you have searched on:

Now ask your question in clear English without "txt" speak>>>>

I am suddenly getting messages from Bullguard that it has blocked a trojan, on every forum page that I load. It's happening on my forum and it's happening on here too, but nowhere else, including other phpBB forums.

It's also happening on this forum, which I am a member of: http://southeastriders.myfanforum.org

Googling it seems to suggest that the trojan could be on your server

I'd recommend running a a malware scan on your own PC.

Your forum is advert free and when checked there really is nothing amiss on it or here.

You are also seeing the issue on both phpb2 and phpbb3 forums and on different actual servers. So this points to either security software that has false alarms or something local to you.

My best guess at the moment would be it falsely reporting viglink affiliate linking as an issue. As that is common to all the forums you say gives the warning. viglink is totally harmless.

Thank you Admin.

After I posted the original message I did a full AV scan which found and deleted 2 files. I came on here and still had the same problem. Read your response and followed your advice - downloaded and ran Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. That found and deleted one file. I went on my forum and still had the same problem

I had a PM waiting for me there so I read and responded to that, which took a good 10-15 minutes or so, and I haven't had the problem since. Most peculiar. I checked Bullguard's firewall log and it stopped blocking connect attempts at 8:54am.

I might add that we do get quite a few early morning visitors on Forest Chat and nobody has reported any problems so far, so maybe it is just me, but why did it suddenly stop? Bullguard checks for updates every 2 hours and it had definitely updated its definitions last night and again this morning just after 9am, so possibly they may have found a problem.

Anyway, thank you for checking things your end and I hope it doesn't happen again my end!!!!!

I'm very inclined to the view that this was a definitions issue.
The lack of detail in the screenshot does not really help diagnose these things though.

I'm not sure what you mean by lack of detail? As there are no adverts on my forum, I didn't think there would be any other relevant information to be seen?

The screenshot is very lacking in detail.
Either that is because the Bulldog checker is uselessly vague, or because you have not drilled down the interface and seen more detail.

The interesting thing is, that although it says the infected file was moved to quarantine, there was nothing in quarantine.....

This thread is an old one, you are still allowed to post to it, but we recommend you start a new thread.

Viglink is not harmless in that it hijacks our ebay links and redirects some of us directly to a viglink shopping page which offers absolutely nothing we are interested in.... and a lot of annoyance preventing us from reaching our intended link target.

I know it's an old thread but I could not easily find a new one that I'm fairly certain is buried in here somewhere.

Bottom line is we would very much appreciate it if you could fix this issue... we have a so-called ad free forum.

viglink has been on all forums for years and its removal is not part of the ad free deal.

I am well aware of it and I am not suggesting you remove viglink as they are very good for your business.

Until about a week ago it was unintrusive in that it merely routed our page requests through viglink, somewhat similar to skimlink on non-ebay links.
It was not an issue before because it only slowed down getting to the target page by such a short time it wasn't important.

However..... Now it is very intrusive to some of us.
I have clicked on ebay links that hijacked my request and went straight to a Viglink Shopping page which is not just terribly annoying but also cmpletely useless to us.

see thread here:

I have turned that off, it seems to be something they have kicked of without us asking for it.
I agree that is intrusive.

I just read on another thread where I posted about this that your admin has turned off the additional feature.

If so... That's awesome...THANK YOU...!!!
