I wrote a song, Symon performs is, Admin engineers it and Viper writes a song, Storm sings it and Yatta records it... you mix them together. It doesn't remove our copyright. There was a recent case where someone proved that because more than 20% of the bars in one piece of music bore an uncanny likeness to another piece of music they were sued and lost ALL the money from record sales and fined.

I create an image and give it to you to use as you want. Someone else copies it plays with the colours, add a log and calls it theirs. They have breached MY copyright and your ownership.

If you record a live performance and the venue shows a sign saying "No recording equipment is to be used" you cannot record. If there is no sigh, you still can't record it because you have the copyright of the music to take into account as well as the copyright of the artist/band/singer.

Just because something isn't commercially available or doesn't have a copyright sticker on it don't think you can copy and rebroadcast/distribute it for gain or for free. The law sees very little difference between "Given away" and "Sold".

If you do a remix of John Williams' music and he finds out he WILL prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law. It is clearly stated on th ebottom of all his manuscripts. Photocopy a piece of music and perform it in rehearsal or public and see how the copyright people look at it.

Thanks for your cooperation, we try not to micro manage forums and rely on the good efforts of the forum owners to stick to these rules. In practical terms we are only the hosting company, it is owners who are more likely to be sued, and hence it is in their interests to run a tight ship
