OK, then I will have to stay with what I have and make it better!
In that case, I have a problem. On my forum I can upload attachments in a post, but not pictures - is there no gallery feature in the PhpBB3? I was Ok with attachments until i discovered there is a forum limit and we have reached it
How do I get the normal picture upload and the gallery working on my new forum?

This is not good
OK, how do I delete the attachments? I will have to move the images over to another system and reference them in the forum threads, and then delete the attachments.
But first i need to know how to delete the attachments that have been put there to date?
Sorry if this is simple and stupid questions.

You can find orphaned attachments in the admin panel under posting/orphaned attachments and delete them there.
Otherwise it seems to be a case of deleting via the users control panel, or deleting the posts with the attachments.
I'm sorry about this, but we spent years making phpbb2 on our system work well.
With phpbb3 it is going to take time, as we cannot wade into a new and unstable system and make many of our own changes. _________________

Not a problem. i took the risk when I moved to PhpBB3, just had not appreciated this image vs attachment issue. Our forum is dependant on posting images, so i will have to get it sorted out...
For now, I will host all the images on our main web server, and link to them from the forum.
I will follow the upgrade and fix discussions here and hope you have a good gallery solution in the future.
We would not have a forum if it was not for the good work you are all doing, so for that i thank you - Keep up the good work

Our main gallery solution is portal based and so it would be very easy to install to phpbb3.
We may even end up doing it, but you imagine the mess if we bend phpbb3 our way and in the next release there is an integrated solution _________________
