Ys i do agree the permission fields are in need of revamping, not sure if Admin would like the idea of been called a maniac but skilled yes. Perhaps if all permissions was set t default so that they would show without having to edit them in less you wanted to make them provate etc like they are in PHPbb2. |
Again I cannot possibly deny that that would make more sense. But it is not phpbb3, whilst I am happy to change default options in phpbb3 to more useful ones for a new forum, changing actual behaviour is different.

Just passed another significant milestone.
Apart from one final tweak to the configuration of a couple of servers, phpbb3 and the upgrade facility are now installed on the servers
At some point in the next day or two the final tweak will be made and testing will begin.
At the moment as users, all you will see is a new look control panel with a phpbb2/phpbb3 tab that has some information but nothing you can do. This is because there are two switches on each domain, one that allows you to create a test upgrade, and one that allows you to set the test upgrade to be your live forum. These switches should be "off" across all domains.
The reason for this is that the master management code for phpbb2/phpbb3 is one set of code, and having spent a month changing it, we need to allow a few days to see if any problems have arisen on the phpbb2 management front before opening other doors.
There really should not be an issue. As has been said before we may have been a little late compared to some in joining the phpbb3 party, but at the forums management level we have been running a phpbb3 capable system for over a year. As such that part of the system needed little more than a few revisions _________________

As people will see "upgrades" are now possible.
But a glance at the phpbb3 support forum will show the bugs are still quite think on the ground, both bugs with our implementation and actual phpbb3 bugs.
Things are getting steadily fixed, but all the same it is clear that paying with phpbb3 is still a case of playing at the bleeding edge, and should be approached with caution. _________________
