This is a similar template to that running on the support forum, but with a different header and some tweaks like the posting check list removed.

Looking good. I will post any updates here, as I expect there may be a few.

When it has been stable a while, I think a round of releases with different color schemes should happen.

Rather like the different subSilver based themes.

Well there are t-shirts going for significant efforts we can release!

Not talking about minor tweaks though, it would have to be a coherent and complete color scheme, or another significant rework.

Thanks guys

I was pulling my hair out yesterday and was ready to come running for help, then the words of admin rang in my ears, "try it and see what happens" and "if you can't understand basic html" etc etc so I stuck at it, and even if I do say so myself its coming along brilliantly.

So when admin shouts at you, listen, it is for your own good

Let me say that my experience over the last week reinforces that opinion, due not least to my own screw up with not realizing the significance of the html document type, I have spent probably the best part of 30 hours on this template, using assorted backup copies of files, and a couple of times practically starting from scratch on the css It was painful, time wasting because of my own ignorance of this one darn thing, but at the end of it I have learnt an awful lot. A much better result than failing to learn.

A key point is "backups", the template slots let you create them, and copy and paste lets you create your own. I have about 5 versions of the css files under names like phpbb3_iek_works.css, phpbb_ff_works.css and so on.

With a little system, and use of the editor account, you can always get back to where you were before

Now I don't want people to bend the stick too far away from asking questions, we don't all need to become html experts, and time is precious to us all, if asking can save hours of work, then ask away, we are pleased to help

A few times this last week I took a deep breathe and tried one of my standard tricks! I started to mentally compose a good support question about my problems with the template, trying to create a question that someone can reasonably answer will often mean that you create questions that can get answered with a search (in the case of css/html questions I mean a search of the whole net). Trying to create a question can also expose areas, where you plainly need to read some tutorials if you want to be competent to edit at the level you are editing. For example you may have mastered the syntax of html, but css has another set of rules entirely. For example.

#site-description h1
{
color: #ffffff;
margin-right: 0pt;
font-weight: bold;
font-size: 1.2em;
}

refers to what exactly? you could reasonable place two different interpretations on it Frankly I know some web designers who could not answer the question

I guess thankfully (and this is how web designers get away with it) most template work does not involve altering anything structural in css files, someone has done that for you, and all you need to do is tweak a few colors and sizes

I am certainly keen to work on a variant, and green will be my choice. It would be really good of course if others tweaked the css to a nice colour scheme and let us copy back to create some of the range.
e.g. they can have there own theme as regards logo etc, but the css could come and be used by others in the basic style.

viewforum_body.tpl has been updated to show subforums better.

This uses new macros.

{topicrow.FORUM_NAME}
{topicrow.FORUM_DESC}

which have just been added to the system.

Quick question
I uploaded this new template, but if I am already using my 4 myfs template slots does that mean I cant edit it?
