I know who it is doing this and they have gone has far as registering from library computers, home computers, friends computers...the list is endless, I don't know what do to about it...they are upset of the competition between boards, which I only focus on mine not theirs and have never posted on their board...I was hoping bordem would get them too, but not so far and it's been two months very frustrating when you're trying to run a good and proper fourm.

Ok this is what I've done. My forum is open to ALL guests, however, the busiest forum named "The Lounge" visiters can see the forum there, but must be registered/logged in to view the contents of that particular forum. Is that ok?
View it if you like, click the links in my sig _________________ www.sportzone.co.nr ~ All Things Sport & More

Remember there is a difference between allowing guests to post on you forum and actually viewing it. I don't allow any guest posting at all and most of the forum they can freely read as can Google bots and other search engines.
I think the point admin was trying to make is if guests cannot read a forum the neighter can the Search engine bots that cache your forums for listing.
Set you forum permissions to allow guest reading but must be registered and logged in to post.
Allowing guest posting is just inviting trouble trust me been there done that.

I agree, it's dumb. They would rather see all the forums than just like a locked forum saying join to see the rest or something.

Keep baning and soon they will run out of resources and soon give up. Or file complaint with their ISP and they will contact their mommy Though to do that, I have no clue as I never had to contact an ISP before.

That AND people won't sign up just to view your forum. _________________ "Great minds talk about ideas, mediocre minds talk about current events, small minds talk about other peoples"

When you ban an IP address, when they try to enter the site, what happens, do they even see the board?

All they see is you been banned and they can't see the forum or anything. _________________ "Great minds talk about ideas, mediocre minds talk about current events, small minds talk about other peoples"

You can buts its not advised. You could wipe out a whole region if not careful
Pm me the Ips and I see what is safe to ban. _________________ "Great minds talk about ideas, mediocre minds talk about current events, small minds talk about other peoples"

My forum ( chosensouls.myfreeforum.org ) is not completly "invisible" to guests. Only the forums that have a low post imput were make invisible to guests. The main forums and ones made for guests are still visible to all. This ensures that the guests get to see the better sections of forums before they can see some parts that may seem "unsucessful". Because of this, I believe that my forum may seem more attractive to guests. _________________ The Panda has Spoken!
