Hello,

I have successfully managed to import the dump file into my new server, and on the face of it everything seems fine. This is a test forum, so not properly live.

When editing the dump file I removed the following sections...

phpbb_config
phpbb_styles
phpbb_styles_imageset
phpbb_styles_imageset_data
phpbb_styles_template
phpbb_styles_template_data
phpbb_styles_theme

I uploaded the remaining dump (zipped) into the fresh install of phpbb3 using phpmyadmin which is already preinstalled as a feature by my new host. I did not change any of the defaul settings in phpmyadmin before importing the dump file.

After that I sychronised the post count and statistics. I have deleted all cookies using the link at the bottom of the main forum page.

The member view of the forum works fine, however in the ACP I have run into an issue.

When following the following links:

Manage Groups (in the General Tab)
Inactive Users (in the Users & Groups Tab)
Custom Profile Fields

Manage Groups (in the Users & Groups Tab)
Ban Emails
Ban IPs
Ban usernames
Disallow Usernames

Moderate user (in users profile)

I am met with a blank page. No error message, nothing at all. All other links appear to work correctly.

What have I done wrong? Everything else seems fine so far.

You might want to put:

Code:

error_reporting(E_ALL);
ini_set('display_errors','On');


into adm/index.php

to see if that gets an error message to show.

I now get the exact same error as the previous guy in this thread:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare user_get_id_name() (previously declared in /home/sites/kinfinity.co.uk/public_html/kindle/includes/functions_user.php:27) in /home/sites/kinfinity.co.uk/public_html/kindle/includes/functions_user.php on line 82

Off to search if there is an answer...

Once I get an answer, I'll post it here, so that the next person will know what to do.

Would be useful. I can't improve on my previous answer at this point. The file must be being included twice so replace includes with require_once.

A thought.

Other people get this error when they've screwed up a MOD on their forum.

I notice that on my MFF ACP I am unable to see the predefined group "Newly Registered Users" in any area where I should be able to edit it.

In the new ACP I have this option.

I'm wondering if it is the fact that this group is missing from the MFF ACP it is generating the described conflict when running the vanilla 3.07 version? It's trying to find something that isn't there.

I'm probably way out, but it's the best I can think of without any proper help from the phpb support forum.

FIX FOUND!

Right you are then, I was correct.

Here below, is a HowTo for importing a phpbb3 dump file:

1. Install a fresh copy of the forum on your new host server.

2. Edit the dump file provided by MYFF in WordPad and DELETE the following tables (both parts; "table structure" and "dumping data":

phpbb_config (remember to make a note of your board start date and any other stats you want)
phpbb_styles
phpbb_styles_imageset
phpbb_styles_imageset_data
phpbb_styles_template
phpbb_styles_template_data
phpbb_styles_theme

Next, if you have created your own groups, find the phpbb_groups table and add:

(7,1,0,'NEWLY_REGISTERED','','',7,'',0,'',0,0,0,0,'',0,0,0,0,1,0),

right after

(6,3,0,'BOTS','','',7,'',0,'',0,0,0,0,'9E8DA7',0,0,0,0,0,0),

The numbers I have bolded out are the group ID numbers. Ensure that each number only appears once. Your own groups *should* start with 8 onwards.

If you have not created any groups of your own, it is easier just to delete the whole phpbb_groups tables (both parts). (If all else fails, delete this table- this is what creates the error mentioned in earlier posts in this thread).

Save the file and re-zip it.

In phpmyadmin, select your database and import your newly edited dump file.

You should now have a working forum.

You may wish to sychronise your statistics too.

Brilliant!! You were right allkindle I didn't get anywhere on the phpbb forums...and then real life got in the way so the move have been on hold ever since. Hopefully with your solution I can begin testing again soon when time permits

No problem.

It occurred to me that there probably wasn't anything wrong with the coding per sť. MHFF runs a modified version of the same software, so the problem had to lie with the vanilla version looking for something that had been removed from the MYFF version. Once I intentified what it was, the rest was easy.

Also bear in mind I have no coding experience and had never played with forum software before I set up my forum 1.5 months ago  Wink

In addition to the above....

Further tables need to be removed, for the same reasons.

Once I had solved the previous issue, I came across another problem, and I expect Buteo will have the same thing when s/he starts experimenting again.

There are some conflicts in the ACP (MYFF ACP has had some items removed), so you need to delete the phpbb_modules tables from the dump file as well as the above.

I had no webpages installed, so I have also removed those also, just for good measure.

For extra clarification for beginners, when you import a dump file, it overwrites all the tables that are created with a fresh install. If you remove a table from the dump file, the original table from the fresh install is kept and used. Basically, I've had to hunt down anything that has been modified from the original 3.07 install and remove it.

I *think* I have now resolved all issues with importing a phpbb3 database. Of course, if anything else does crop up, I will post it here.

It's my way of giving something back.
