Definitely a broken link.

Best taken care of though through e-mail, just reply to the e-mail instead of posting here.

I'm removing the link you posted, just so people don't get the idea of stealing your data.

This has been sorted, it wasn't done urgently as you had said you did not want anything apart from the sql!

paganfriends.myfreeforum.org

We've purchased the backup of our forum today and I'm just about to attempt a practice import...But I want to make sure I understand a few things before I start:

1. When you say "elminate phpbb_config" what exactly do I need to delete in the sql dump file?

2. The sql dump I have doesn't contain any reference to "phpbb_themes" or "phpbb_themes_name" am I missing something?

TIA

You are worrying me here. Your forum is phpbb3, so the phpbb2 instructions do not apply.

So where are the phpbb3 instructions?...the howtodoit for phpbb3 says the same as the pphbb2 one and the email you sent the forum owner gave the link to this thread to use as support.

Okay there may not be an explicit set of phpbb3 export/import instructions.

Though tips are scattered throughout this thread.

The basics though are the same, avoid the database tables for config/templates/styles and in the case of phpbb3 the admin_module tables. Import the rest.

I think I'm getting there

...just wondering if there's a list of all the config table entries that need manually changing to save me having to check every one of them

I've successfully imported the database into a test forum on my machine and added back all the config data that needs to be. Barring the style, smilies etc it seems be working ok so far...except if I try to 'administrate user' from either their profile or the ACP I get this error message:
Quote:
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare user_get_id_name() (previously declared in C:\wamp\www\phpbb3test04\includes\functions_user.php:27) in C:\wamp\www\phpbb3test04\includes\functions_user.php on line 82

Any ideas?

Sounds like you have something doubled in your functions_user.php file that is trying to declare something twice.  Meaning it's calling something then trying to call it again, which is giving an error.

Looks like lines 27 and 82 are conflicting.

My php knowledge is rather limited so I'm unsure how to solve this

This what lines 27 to 82 say in the functions_user.php:

Code:
function user_get_id_name(&$user_id_ary, &$username_ary, $user_type = false)
{
    global $db;

    // Are both arrays already filled? Yep, return else
    // are neither array filled?
    if ($user_id_ary && $username_ary)
    {
        return false;
    }
    else if (!$user_id_ary && !$username_ary)
    {
        return 'NO_USERS';
    }

    $which_ary = ($user_id_ary) ? 'user_id_ary' : 'username_ary';

    if ($$which_ary && !is_array($$which_ary))
    {
        $$which_ary = array($$which_ary);
    }

    $sql_in = ($which_ary == 'user_id_ary') ? array_map('intval', $$which_ary) : array_map('utf8_clean_string', $$which_ary);
    unset($$which_ary);

    $user_id_ary = $username_ary = array();

    // Grab the user id/username records
    $sql_where = ($which_ary == 'user_id_ary') ? 'user_id' : 'username_clean';
    $sql = 'SELECT user_id, username
        FROM ' . USERS_TABLE . '
        WHERE ' . $db->sql_in_set($sql_where, $sql_in);

    if ($user_type !== false && !empty($user_type))
    {
        $sql .= ' AND ' . $db->sql_in_set('user_type', $user_type);
    }

    $result = $db->sql_query($sql);

    if (!($row = $db->sql_fetchrow($result)))
    {
        $db->sql_freeresult($result);
        return 'NO_USERS';
    }

    do
    {
        $username_ary[$row['user_id']] = $row['username'];
        $user_id_ary[] = $row['user_id'];
    }
    while ($row = $db->sql_fetchrow($result));
    $db->sql_freeresult($result);

    return false;
}

Line 82 is the }

BTW I've checked and the file is identical to a default installed forum on which the administrate user function works. It's not been changed at all.

I think this is a phpbb3 bug, probably best asked about on the phpbb3 official forums.

It is caused on some hosts by the use of "include" rather than require_once to include files. So the definition of the function gets included twice.

I recall we have had to change a few such lines in phpbb3. But I cannot recall which.
