Well, using allkindle's excellent posts re exporting/importing a phpbb3 forum, http://paganfriends.myfreeforum.org is finally ready to say goodbye to myff. We have our new server space all ready for us and I'm planning to close the forum first thing Friday morning. What would be the preferred way to obtain our final backup once the forum is locked up? Post here? Email to admin?

As an aside I would just like to say that our experience here at myff has been excellent. Great support and a stable starter home for our little forum. Thank you all

Email to admin is probably the way to get the quickest response.

Possibly, but not an answer - In my experience.

Can some kind soul please put me out of my mysery. We have been sent the links to download the various files and database and everything is fine - Except:
The mySQL database has been sent as a HTML file? Now I am not going to ponder the reasons why anyone would want to do this but would some kind soul tell me how you import a HTML file into a mySQL database?

Thanks.

the issue is not the filename, it's whether what is in the file is sql?
so without posting the whole thing here, what is the contents?

I would just like to say a big thank you to the MYFF team for the excellent service they have given us over the last 6 years. I imported the PHPBB2 files provided by MYFF into a new database then run a conversion to import it into our new PHPBB3 forum, everything went without a problem. Thank you again for the excellent service and I will recommend you to anyone in the future who wants to start a forum.

As an answer to the question above (I know it is 6 months old), which may help somebody else who isn't 100% sure what to do, just change the file extension of the exported file supplied from .html to .sql, this should make it work for you.
