I got the portal on the left hand side using the HowToDoIt but it still hasnt worked. I have a login portal and when the code in the guide is used my portal doesn't go where it is meant to. It is beside the ads section at the top  and underneath the logo. How do I fix this so it is to the left of the topics. I think the template is 'fisubice'.

Does not look like you have either placed the code needed in the footer, or you have misread read the guide.

Have another go at following the guide: http://howtodoit.myfreeforum.org/...component=content&topicid=590. It does work

I've gone portal mental and they all work and are placed where I wanted them to be.

I've used most of these guides: http://howtodoit.myfreeforum.org/...hp?component=forum&forumid=32.

Have look at mine if you want: CARS AND MOTORSPORT FORUM

Good Luck

I followed the directions given to the letter. I have searched these forums and the Howtodoit forums with no joy in solving my problem.

My forums are brand new. See: here

Note that the front page looks as expected. A portal on the left and only the left. Hooray!

BUT, select any item shown in the "Recent Posts" portal on the left and you then end up at a page in formatting hell. After two days of trying I have to cry "uncle!" and seek an expert's guidance here.

I have no idea why the page reverts to a dual portal view and gums up the width of the posted content at the same time. I suppose I could live with the dual portal view if the problem with the width of the middle column of actual content is corrected.

Suggestions welcome, and begged for.

I have purchased the ad-free service for a year and see this: http://rti.myfineforum.org/sutra37.php#37

I hope amends have been made now. Are we good?

We are good, but that does not make for an instant or easy solution to a complex html problem at midnight!

My first thought though was that the Recent Posts portal might be best set as:

Link to: FORUM

rather than CONTENT

Yup, that did the trick. Whew! Thanks!

I have another issue and will start another topic for that one.
