Can I ask a couple of quick questions? Do you use AOL as your IP? Have you tried running a similar program from another provider?
We run a home network, unfortunately it's hubby's job to keep it running so I'm not as clued up on it as I could be... Have you tried www.annoyances.org ? Be warned though - they hate anything do do with AOL with a vengeance on there. _________________ http://bebi.myfastforum.org/index.php
If you are using AOL 9.0, for some reason it thinks you should be connected to a network (don't ask me why? who knows the strange ideas they come up with??)
If you disconnect your non-existing network, or delete it, AOL tends to go a bit mad and not work properly. I found this out the hard way, so unless you know what you are doing, or know a man that can, I'd leave well alone.
I'm not an expert on these things but it is as if it sees the dsl modem as a network. _________________ There are two rules for riding a horse...

Thanks Ailris I really should check in more often hehe... I think the reason it thinks you should be on a network is because a lot of people use home networks nowadays, and it's probably simpler for them to create the software that way. That's just my personal view anyway.
Funny thing happened today (the reason I came back to this thread actually...) I was doing some work on my forum and had opened a few pages while researching. I was closing down the pages when I'd done and one happened to be one for that AOL Security Monitor program :silent: It definitely wasn't left open from last night as I'd rebooted since then...
