Quick Mod tools not working

I have searched quick mod, tools, move, mod error

I have noticed that when I try to use the quick mod tools  get this error

"General Error
not allowed as quickmod
Please notify the board administrator or webmaster: my email address"

I can edit a post and change it but not from quick mod tools, any ideas why?

You do seem to have made just about anything on your forum permission denied as a guest, and then used portals that generate errors when nothing is search-able.

This might easily have unexpected side effects.

It is strongly recommended that all forums have one forum that is guest readable. Even if it just has a single post that tells people they need to register, it will at least stop a lot of weirdness.

Guests used to be able to view the site, do you think it could be the portals? I will try taking them out and see if it works. If it is the portals does that mean they cannot be put on this template?

ok i took the portals out and now its fine. I really wanted to have the portals and liked te way it looked. I really thought i'd cracked it as ive been working all day on it. Is there any way to keep the portals?

Have you done as suggested and made some readable forums so that the portals can work?

all my forums other than a staff one are viewable to all members & guests is that what you mean?

Seems that way now, was it before? as it did not look that way, but that might have been a portal issue

Yeah it was always like that before. I litterally just removed the portals from overall header

You may need to experiment adding a portal at a time.

If there are actual portal issues they will not now be fixed until next week though.

login, current time & topposters work fine and you can still view the board as a guest. It seems to be just latest posts, announcements etc where it needs to search my site that cause the problem. Does that sound like it could be something I need to change to make them work or could there be portal issues

Search portals tend to work in "guest" mode and there is no such thing as "Latest Posts" for a guest. So that would be an issue I guess.

Best to leave it for now. Next week I will look at making some portals like LATEST fail nicely for guests.

ok I will leave that one out just to go back to my original question. I have added these portals

and I have not got that problem I had before with guest view so I assume it is Latest Post. However I am still not able to use the quick mod tools any idea what could be causing that?
