Hi there

I am very concerned that the founder and Admin of this forum is acting in a very irresponsible and dubious manner.

http://pubs.myfunforum.org/

Amongst many other threats and unpleasantness he has openly admitted that he is sharing his members personal information with other forums and is actually publically offering this and other data to any random person who may want it. He has now also racked up multiple forum bans because of his threats and spamming and happily admits to his aggressive behaviour. Incidentally he also initially tried to pretend that Admin was a completely different person before getting caught out - bizarre.

He has now set up a second forum purely to attack and upset people that he perceives have wronged him and is continuing his threatening behaviour on it, I don't know if it would exactly class as a 'hate site' but it is certainly disturbing reading to say the least.

Kind regards

Simon

This seems like an inter forum squabble that we cannot arbitrate on.

If you can link to a specific problem in a thread posted on one of our forums then you may get somewhere with this. But otherwise we can do little except wade in on issues we know nothing about.

Hi again

Sorry, I was in a rush and reading my initial post back I can see it's not the clearest

My concern is about Admin of this forum granting access to his forum members personal details to pretty much anyone and everyone.

He has assured his members that their data/info is protected as he was registering with the Data Protection Register in August 08

http://pubs.myfunforum.org/ftopic151-0-asc-0.php

But now is posting elsewhere that he has granted access to Pubs records to various other forums and is offering to supply further sensitive data to anyone who wishes it.

http://forums.shootinguk.co.uk/sh...at/0/Number/3496/an/0/page/0#3496

I work with the DPA every day (deep joy... NOT) so perhaps I am just overly paraniod but I'm pretty sure that the DPA exists precisely to prevent this sort of thing happening. Certainly the forum that I am admin of guard our members details very carefully.

Kind regards

Simon

We cannot act on what may simply be a silly thing said and later thought through and regretted, especially when it was not even said on one of our forums.

As the person mentioned I can confirm that I am using statcounter to record IP addresses used by persons who are trying to destroy my forums, I have granted access to those stats by admin of two other Forums who have suffered the same problems from the same source.

Which is a perfectly sensible thing to do in some circumstances.

As a result of continued personal attacks by persons hiding behing a false addy- i prefer to post under my real id wherever possible- I utilised statcounter to record the IP addys etc of visitors to my sites.
At no time were members details available to others- aside from those they themselves decided to post when registering and which can be seen in any members list -  any address details and confidential information for contact purposes are recorded on a pc with no connection to the internet.
As an example I joined one Forum to advise of the existence of one of my sites offering free services and within hours was attacked by four persons from another Forum- yes the posts were all deleted and all accounts deleted too- that Forum didnt want to get involved in a dispute between me and another forum-quite understandably.
Getitorfyerchest was designed to attract those persons to a place where they and others can have a go- doesnt seem to have succeeded!!!

Actually these posts have attracted even more attention to getit!!!

As a follow up PuBS admin received a letter from the Data Protection Registrar after a complaint from someone regarding this matter - probably some sad disaffected person - and a full explanation of PuBS actions was given to the Registrar.
The Registrar asked that PuBS admin make it clear in their Forum Rules that IP addresses etc were recorded and shared with other fora - this has been done and the Registrar has closed the case.

Thanks for the post, I am sure the Registrar has little enthusiasm for pursuing forum owners over trivia.

I agree but the background is murky - someone purporting to be Simon, the admin of Shooting Community Forum made this complaint to you, and also someone hacked into SC Admin Forum and placed posts regarding me personally in Open Forum, both actions designed to disrupt liaison between our two Fora in dealing with very well known and now identified Trolls, mainly from another site which shall we say, does not have our best interests at heart!
You work hard at providing a wonderful base for people to start up their own Forum at minimal cost and I dont see why you have to arbitrate so often in inter Fora spats.
There is plenty of room in cyberspace and if a Forum doesnt meet the standard then it will fall by the wayside through lack of use.
Please keep up the good work!!
