All phpbb3 mods are hacks
This is the big issue with the way both phpbb2 and phpbb3 are coded
To blow our own trumpet, when we add "portals" the portals are only just hacks, the portal system places a component system into phpbb2, so that we can add stuff with minimum "hacking".
A well programmed system, like say the CMS system Joomla, allows mods without hacking. You can add new code without altering the main code at all, and run your code via system events. e.g. If I want to do something special after a user registers, I can ask for my code to be called at that point.
Nothing like this can be done with phpbb2/phpbb3.
This means that if we go down the desired route of adding even approved hacks right now, then when phpbb3.01 is released, which I think it will be soon in order to correct tons of little bugs, then the work and more to the point risk involved in updating the code will be unacceptably high.
I'd ask everyone to be very patient, out phpbb2 system has to be the most advanced in the world by miles and is even now still be worked on to be even better You can see our record on this, and you can see phpbb3 is receiving a degree of work as well. So you can see the intent is there to provide an excellent phpbb3 system, it will just take a little time.

first of all what an incredibly insightful post for admin to make sense out of in terms of things to possibly add in time.
secondly can't you use xtra profile fields to allow people to change their status(yes, what their doing, similar to facebook) _________________ CALM TIME: When calm time is called, all posters in a topic must take time out to calm down.

I have warned you so many times i,m getting sick of it.
HOWTODOIT tells you how to have an iframe, and its not rocket science, stop posting the same questions 3 or 4 times in different threads. _________________

Would it be possible, or is it in the pipeline to have a more advanced posting box like phpBB2 has and a quick reply box. I noticed a reference to a advanced posting box earlier in this thread and just wondered if there's been any more developments. _________________

Suggestion:
Moderator's & Administrators post...
I suggest moderators & administrators should have different post backgrounds. For example: A moderator's colour [Fmod] is green. So they should have a greenbackground for their post. An admin is [Red, gold, blue etc] They should have their colour for their post.

Got to ask why ????
Isnt this just more rank snobbery ?
And how would this work with all the different templates ? _________________

Well, it wouldn't really work with the templates. What it would do it work with the colour of the rank for the legend. I've seen this on many forums, and it also helps seeing who's a moderator, and who is not.

Disagree, you have rank titles, you have ranks in the legends.
Of course it would work with the templates as you want the posting body changed for an Admins post and A mods post.
Just look on here we dont have anything more than the colour in the legend and a few of us have the rank mod, and yet no one has, and misunderstanding of who is who.
Admins call of course but to me a lot of work for a little ego boost. _________________
