Suggests it was as I guessed a reseller account.

I have never liked these, a member of downsizer does this or at least did this, as as a web designer she has customers who want a one stop shop, and hence it seems to make sense to offer domain names and hosting.

But then when the hosts screwed the backups and had a hardware failure, all the trouble came back to her door

I can fully understand why she did this, and I have in the past before myff considered reselling myself for much the same reason. But I always drew back from the brink. I don't like holding the buck for things I cannot actually take responsibility for.

At myff all we actually do pass the buck on, is the colocation data center as running a multimillion dollar server bunker is best left to others and a part of the "DNS" service where we use a specialist service for secondary nameservers. We used to use them for primary, but even there one of out few outages we have suffered as a service was due to that service having issues and all we could really do was wait for them to get things sorted. I doubt many of our customers were over happy with us saying "not our problem"!

I think it is a telling lesson in attitude that members of the swapitshop forum need to be aware of.

The fact that a free forum service like his goes the way it has is old news, it has been happening for years and will continue to happen.

But with jimi it seems to have happened within weeks, and he is still advertising it, why is he doing this?, when his support forum is just being used for porn spam and he is not answering people on it?

He must know it is wrong, but he does not care about people signing up The honourable thing to do would be to close the thing down before someone makes the dreadful mistake of creating a real forum on it.

How would you feel if you found out the state of the support forum after you had recruited members and got them posting?

Anyway- I think Jimi should be banned from Myfreeforum.

No members want him as admin on SSF.

He thinks he knows everything about forums and stuff..

Also, He even thinks pruning makes your post count go up, LMAO

I used to go on mikes forum alot and it was fantastic. Then Jimi took over and it has been problem after problem after problem.

For example he lost 3 quarters of my post account and he does nothing about it.

I have nw joined swapitshop lounge and it reminds me of how swapitshopforum used to be.

I only go on there now to advertise what i am selling and thats it.

nice work admin just read the whole thread today hadnt been on for alot of time you now know what jimi is like you should tell mike ot give jimi's money back and take over his forum other wise you are going to suspend hte forum lol you must had noticed that the forum post has now gone down from like 200 post a day to like 200 post a day its all because of jimi banning all the high posting forums i cant wait till ssf gets banned as theyare going the right way to it and when jimi does pay mike up i gurantee everyone will come to ssl and noone will be on ssf

We are certainly at a point where someone on that forum needs to start dealing with the issue.

As far as I am concerned Mike could make the case that he is still owner, which would help lay the base for getting things sorted.

As already said the clock is ticking on the forums hosting, and due to the history, the forum has to stay on paid hosting for at least a year as a quarantine period.

It is pretty unlikely we would accept hosting with jimi at the helm! So it is best things got sorted quickly.

I do find the vindictive streak shown by the poster above distressing

The swapitshop forum is still very active as I am sure they know.

I would appreciate people only posting here if they have something constructive to say.
