The MFF servers.
Also, why can't you ban IP's? _________________

Since we have not banned jimis forum where would be the sense of banning his IP?
Do a search on banning for all the reasons why ip bans are a bad idea anyway. _________________

Bad idea for banning ip's, because if that person is using a public computer, then all people who want to use the MFF Support forum from that computer cant use it, and you dont know if theres other people who use it from that certain computer,
And also, if someone lives in a small area they might all have the same internet IP address so you would cut off a whole load of computers from using the forum lol...
(I think thats right)
And anyway, its pointless because even if you banned someones ip, they can just load up a proxy and make a new account through that.
So yeah, pretty pointless, but good suggestion!

Now i,m off to make a nice cuppa at last. _________________

As Symon says this is not out of the blue, there has been stuff going on, some of which still has not been mentioned.
As it has not been visible on the forum, it might look like when action was taken, it was sudden and unexpected. But that is not really the case at all. _________________

Just ban his forum, that would show him
It's only because the forum is soo big that he is getting away with it and to be honest I don't think it's fair.

I think you'd be doing them all a favour to be honest! They all want some excuse out of that place, But its like a curse, a virus, an addiction...
Think there should be warnings signs on it though, maybe it should load up a page when you type in the address that says: Swapitshop Forum KILLS! - It is addictive!' lol :P.
Anyway, dont think Mike (the original owner) cares about it now anyway, you (admin) should ask some of there members what they think of it! Lol :P

Ifr members feel that bad then they should move , there are plenty more forums based on swapitshop out there.
I ran pubs for many years and in busy towns, where we had to compete hard to keep our customers loyal, if you treat them like crap addicts or not they will move to the nearest friendly pub or in this case forum.
Nothing worse on a forum is having an admin who has an ego the size of the dartford tunnel and is clearly a bullsh@ter. _________________

It seems likely it will end it tears, a £1000 for any forum is crazy. A forum is a labour of love and not about money, and if it can be measured in money, none would be worth £1000. So jimi has presumably a debt to Mike that is unpayable in commercial terms. It is a mess of their making. _________________

It was crazy, obviously a forum has some "worth" if it didn't we would not run forums.
But everyone in the advertising industry knows that advertising on forums sucks badly, forums do not pay, people on forums look at posts and not adverts.
Hand on heart I am not able to tell you what money any forum on the system makes, things just don't work that way. But even the biggest will be making pretty much pocket money amounts.
Aside from possibly in some niches like gambling (where a forum admin could put on the sort of adverts we won't) it is really quite pointless for people to harbour ambitions of making money from a forum.
We only make money as we have 20,000 forums! (20,000x verysmallamount = quitedecentamount).
