With the speed that thi is all going at, would it be possible to think of an early release?

BTW, everything looks like it is coming out great thusfar

It certainly will be earlier. But I have added 3 more security checks in the last couple of hours! Allowing this sort of editing is inherintly the sort of code that hackers can an will target. e.g. it is allowing files on the server to be written to Now there is no reason why this cannot be safely done, and we are going to release early. But the code is going to undergo any number of security reviews first.

I don't know if I should attempt to edit a template if I have to ask how to do something , but how do you put hacks into your template, and the template editing section is in the Template Management section of the Administrative Control Panel, right?

Hacks are something that must also be in the main system.

Maybe the support point does not come across quite right. We are not saying you cannot aks questions here, or even that I will not answer. But we are saying that it is impractical for you to screw up a template and actually have us fix it.
I don't understand. For some of the hacks I have requested you said "may be possible when templatecediting is put into effect." I thought that I'd be able to put in a few of my own hacks via template editing

Where do I go to edit the templates? I can't seem to find it anywhere in the Admin Control Panel.

It is not installed yet.

hacks are a two part thing, they must be implemented in the code and in the templates.

We cannot edit 100's of templates so hacks that involve template editing cannot be done unless users can edit their own templates.

But even if they can, we still need to put the code hacks in place.

But the real question is, how many hacks will we be able to put on place?

I have a feeling people may still be disappointed as they will want every hack under the sun, and there are still a great number of reasons to say no to a lot of hacks

It is the give people an inch and they want a mile sydrome...

But I'd ask the people here to examine what they are given here in comparison to other services.

Admin i like so many others on here will always want more its human nature afterall.

But unlike some i no this is just not possable i have asked for a few things you said not possable so that was that.

But i also would like to ask all these gimme gimme gimmee if you want all these things so much and so badly why havnt you signed up somewhere and paid for them ??

You want a freeforum then dont extract the urine and spoil it for all the others who are more than happy with the level of surport we get from here.
Just try and ask for surport from other surport forums i have and its taken 3 weeks for saybox to get back to me, here its normally a matter of mins or an hour at the most.

Climbs down from soapbox

Have just added a link from images to the excellent gifworks online image editing system, though as you might guess this will only apply to gif images.

It is ever so ever so tempting to release this now Wink

But i'm going to be a Vogon and sit on it until probably Monday.

We do have a good record on support, and I want to keep it that way. With the server upgrade scheduled again for the weekend, and with the relatively new process of server moves going on, it seems daft to risk overload by introducing another change so quickly.

It is also worth considering any implications of the system that we may need to deal with.

it certainly may pay me to get some information on template editing on the site first, and to link to it from the editor.
