I was about to reply saying it's still not happening but just had another inspiration (it happens alot   ) I think the problem is that when that information is sent to us we assume we've to login through "Forum Login" in the main menu (or at least I, and a few others, did) so maybe it would help if the automated mail said that we've actually to go to "Site shop" and put our new logons and passwords into the "Returning Customers: Please Log In" fields because when I first saw that I assumed that it was for people who have already had custom with you, it was only a guess that I tried there. I'm not trying to tell you how to run your site or anything but I think that may be the cause of all the confusion

I added it to my paypal payment but just to be my usual thorough (as I always am   ) I'll say it here too, my site is http://rantspace.myfreeforum.org/ but I have a feeling you're well use to it by now

Thank Admin

Kazzie

I think you are right the shop is not very well configured

Mind you, as we are adding our own shop system hopefully next week we will have it replaced.

Darling I'm ALWAYS right

Seriously though I think if the http://www.myfreeforum.org link in the automated message was changed to direct people to here: http://www.myfreeforum.org/index....e&category_id=1&Itemid=37 and then told them to add the choice of payment they want and then in the next page is where they use the new login info it'd solve alot of these issues for you. It's just very unclear that that's what you actually have to do and when people go here http://www.myfreeforum.org the first thing they see is "Forum Logon" but the word they focus on is "logon" so it's natural that thats where everyone will try first, maybe even ammending the first post of this thread with the exact steps to pay will help in the short term until you make your long term changes, just an idea  Wink

Oh and thanks for getting rid of the adverts for me

Well the old shop is totally different to what the new shop will be and is a "Joomla" affair. I'll be happier when it is simply switched over to something I have written.

Joomla is an open source CMS content management system. It is a great product, and surprise surprise some of its open source code has found its way into your forums
Joomla powers all the myff management systems as well.

Cool... always a learning experience    I meant to ask when you get time could you pm me the changes you made to make things work for me, the code looks the same so I'd love to know what it was just to learn it. Now no rush or anything, just when you have a few minutes because I don't plan on changing it but I'd like to know where the prob was coming from in the first place because it'll help me learn more

It is, as it is not an advert, but a useful feature.

All we can do policy wise is to block certain ads, and we can only sensibly do that in extreme cases.

Is it possible to do this on a board by board basis? We're setting up a board for an Everquest Server and I'm getting all kinds of ads to buy the game currency and/or Characters which is against game policy.  One of our rules is to NOT sell characters or ingame platinum, and it's hard to enforce a rule like this when Google is shoving it in everyones face.

Anyway to stop this short of paying for the no ads? I don't want to spend the bucks until I know that the forum is going to take off.
