Your own warn system

I just created my own warn system, so I thought I'd post it here incase anyone else wanted to use/modify it for their forum.
---
to be safe use the editor user, not much can go wrong though.
---
1. In the admin panel goto General then Profile Fields.

2. add a custom field called WARN.

3. Fill out the page as shown in the image (you may change anything that you want different).

4. Click Submit.

5. To increase a users warn level go into the users area of the admin panel and edit their profile, this will only appear in the admin panel so the user cant change thier own warn level.

Notes: You can change the amount of warnings by adding more options to the dropdown list (Zero,One,Two,Three,Four etc). You can also change where it appears, Ive set mine to appear just above the users avatar in a post.

This is a good way of keeping track of how many times you have warned a user, if they reach the highest number of warnings you can them either ban them or discapline then however you wish.

---

I hope that if anyone uses it they enjoy it and it really helps them out. Please tell me what you think of it here.

Easy to do with profile fields but I always feel that forums that have to run this style of things are either badly run or the admin and mods have some sort of over fat ego.

A polite pm from the admin or mod is a better way to deal with problems.

But as with ASBO`s members will just collect these as if trophys

i just think it will be a good way of keeping track of who I have warned as I forget things quite easily, I dont have to warn people very often and its not really like the warnings stand out enough for people to even consider them a trophy, i do kinda see your point though.
admin (no pm's please)

It may have a valid place on some forums. Nice one

Admin notes i feel is the better way of doing it I see Admin disagrees but i have never found that public tags work.

But i,m only one voice.

if there is a call for it i may be asking to add to HOWTODOIT

HOWTODOIT

Tiny errors happen when you are trying to do many things at once Wink
admin (no pm's please)

I don't disagree with Symon on this issue, at least not for most forums, but it may have a role on some and I certainly always applaud the initiative of setting up your own system.

u1bd2005, that is a great idea, nice job! I'm sure most forums don't need this, but as forums grow large, people tend to get out of hand. I'm proud to say that my forum doesn't need this, but that's probably because it only has 7 members so far Wink
