yes and to the most part, by owners offering up admin capabilities when it's simply not needed, especially considering the moderation hack that is now in place.

You have failed to provide much info.
1. Do you have admin access?
2. What is broken? posts? templates? membership?
$10 paid to paypal [at] myfreeforum.org gets a database restore. But we still need to know when? and whether templates are involved.
