Although may be awhile before i get back on css due to someone installing vista on pc..lol
Was quite amusing watching him curse it all night last night |
Firstly, why would anyone want to get ripped off by it's price makes me think their rich or stupid or in some cases both, secondly, just use a vista transformation pack, much easier to get vista that way

Thought I'd split this off into a new thread as there isn't anything about Vista atm.
Just wondering what people opinions (other than Nick's and MrsK's ) are of it.
The OEM version of Ultimate is available online at around £115. Basically this means less/no support (Microsoft support is useless anyway), lesser warranty, not much of a package, no manual (tbh a real "manual" hasn't been shipped with Windows since they started), no returns (so once it has been opened you will not be able to get your money back) and limited to one machine - the OEM is tied to the motherboard, so if you want a new motherboard, you will need a new OS.
With all this in mind (if you wanted Vista), would you take the risk, and save over £200, or play safe a buy the Retail version at over £300?

Quite simply i would want to know what this version has to offer that xp doesn't already.
Windows xp was bad enough cost wise although i go time though work, but im in no hurry to get vista to be honest, and more and likely will not bother unless i buy a new comp and its already installed.

I Just can't get up the slightest enthusiasm for it, let alone all its complex variations.
Nothing I have heard says it adds anything much beyond some power consuming eye candy. Maybe I'm missing something. Of course I am mainly a Linux user anyway

You may have a bit of an out of date view there, I'll admit to a painful process in creating a pretty Linux desktop with nice fonts, but it can be done and I think what I have is almost as pretty as XP and certainly more functional as a desktop on most levels.

If i,m going to spend £300 on something that is just a little pettier than what i have already then it will not be on a new o/s

Thats all vista is ... eye candy
If you want to sit and look at a pretty desktop then its ok, but if you wish to use your pc then its bad..lol
Have been trying to play css on it for 24 hrs now but vista is having none of it Finding the drivers it likes is a total nightmare

The vista transformation pack is great, but i know that Viper has a copy of Vista... So i guess he can tell you more about it than i can.
But i have been looking into getting it, but it is being hacked to hell right now.
