Where would you be with outThe internet.
Been having this discussion on one of my boards,,,
So where would you be with out the net ?
Where would your business be with out the net.
How has the net affected you
How has the net affected your business .
Has the net made you a real world recluse , or has it made you more friends and more confident.
Could you do with out the net
Answers on a postcard.

The net is my business, and is what keeps me working from home, something I have been able to do pretty much throughout my kids school years, youngest left school this week It is stretching a point to say it was all internet, but the product that started me at home was tcp/ip based and that is what runs the net.
Via the net I have made many friends, in fact my main circle of friends are mostly from my downsizer.net forum these days
I really cannot imagine life without the net.

I see it as a luxury I guess. It's something to fill the time.

Information that would have taken days and days of research at various libraries, government buildings, letter-writing to various people etc etc etc....can now be done within five minutes.
Amazing

The internet is my utopia. I love it!
I love making forums and seeing them grow, meeting new people and connecting with them, etc. Without the net, I'd probably be doing something lame like going outside and having a job and stuff. >.>

People without jobs should be made to get up at 5am, so when you get a job and have to get up at 6am it feels like a bonus

We really wouldn't know what we were missing if we never had the internet. Guess my game consoles would get a little more love.

That's what I was obsessed with before being introduced to the net.

As a kid growing up in the 70,s and 80,s there was not a lot of home entertainment.
Video`s were brand new in the 80`s , computers use to be huge bbcmasters (bet admin knows them) at school with the only programming using bios
10 print "hello"
20 goto 10
This if i remember rightly would just print your name over and over on the screen.
Quite often we would be sitting around playing board games and cards, or making our onw games up.
Then the Atria first came out , and we use to huddle in front of the tv playing the black and white games.
Now the huge net has exploded, and what with online gaming , and the games consoles around , i think family life has taken a huge kick in the teeth.
However the net is my business, and with 3 pcs and 2 laptops in the house, it is like a mini cyber cafe.
Where would i be with out it, in a different job for sure, and more and likely spending more time, with family friends.
So in only 20 years we have gone form no videos to videos, no pcs to pcs, no net to net, no cds to cds, the list goes on.
What will we have in 20 years form now. ?

My first computer was an ACER (can't remember the model name) that was given to me by my ant. I remember the 56k dial-up modem and using AOL. The modem was starting to go out and it was slow so I built my first computer which lasted 4 years. (logged a lot of hours in Runescape on it). In December I built my current one. Not todays technology but it gets me playable in Source Games.
