Honest answers?

1. You're spelling's atrocious - you're supposed to be (at least you punt yourself as being) some form of expert/specialist in these fields - and the word is spelt 'tarantula', not "trantulas".

2. Never assume. What is an "invert"? Your forum is littered with jargon, contractions and abbreviations - if you mean invertebrate, than say so: not everyone coming across your site uses the hobby-centric jargon which might be common in your circles.

3. Use proper punctuation and capital letters in the appropriate places - not everyone on the Web is an SMS-only-capable 13 year old school girl. Basing the content and writing style of your forum on an Instant Messenger format is not a good idea. A forum is a meeting place for the exchange of ideas, views and information - not just a mere chat room.

4. Be consistent: is it "Terruims", or "Terriums"? Again, goes to poor/sloppy spelling - bad spelling is usually down to two things - either you're being lazy and can't spell, or your dyslexic - if the latter, then get help from someone who isn't in planning and preparing your forum's presentation. If potential members see this kind of schoolboy error they'll not bother joining, as it just looks sloppy and like there's no thought or care gone in to the planning, execution and upkeep of your site.

5. Don't treat your site like you're addressing an audience of your close mates sitting next to you who already 'get it'. Other potential members don't like cliques and will avoid them.

6. There's a old adage: if you aim at nothing, then you're bound to hit it. What is your forum about and at whom it is aimed? Be clear, be engaging and try to come across as professional.

Good luck.

First off, you're not going to get anybody's two cents worth in one hour's time. This forum isn't THAT busy.

Secondly, don't ask questions via PM (like you did to me, and probably others). If you want help, keep it in the public forums.

And last, you need CONTENT, ADVERTISEMENT, and TIME.

You only have 21 threads. Post some general information about specific bugs. People want to come to your forum to join existing discussions, and to learn. By having barely any content, you are expecting your users to create it for you.

You need to advertise to more people than just your friends. Friends are decent for advertisement purposes, but to get people to come you need to need to advertise in more places. Put the URL to your forum in the "Website" field for any forum you join. Put the URL on your Facebook profile. It will possibly be a good start.

Your forum has only been up for what looks like 9 days. That's barely anything compared to the time that many other successful forums have been running.

And that's your other stand-out issue - this is what, the 3rd or 4th bug-related forum to my knowledge you've started and then abandoned in short order?

Folks/potential members will not take you at all seriously with a batting average and lack of commitment to any endeavour like that. If you can't be bothered to stick around and your the site's owner, then why should/would they bother?

You need to put A LOT of work into your site in providing worthwhile content, as at the moment, you have none.

Good luck.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but if I were the Admins here at MyFF, I'd be following you around with a broom & bucket sweeping up all the abandoned forums now lying in debris behind you mate. I don't know why they allow you keep up such an new forum attrition rate.

If I here more reports of demon abusing the right to pm's I will remove them for a week, asking people a question via pm when you have already created a thread for that question is not on.

I'd say more than your members, in time that gap will level out as more members join and long lasting members continue to post and even add more topics of interest.

First thing, you might want to do is not take it to heart in what some people say, this will dishearten you and it's not something you should let happen, take some of the advice and think how can I do better, myff has always been a place that is always willing to help, but it's simply not possible to expect other people to make your forum a success, it's something that does have to be worked on.
