There's a few flags i want to add and use. How would i ho about doing that?? i have tryed to upload the images to my template and dont know what to do from there. At the moment in the 'display as image' box i have put /ranks/flags/{FLAGS}.gif.

It depends what you want to do with the flags? the main flag images are based in the official two letter Country codes and hence cannot be added to.

I want to add Guernsey and yorkshire rose flag.

P.S cant i upload my own flags and use them as location flags?? Or can i give you the flags and you add them for me???. Thanks for the response by the way mate.

You can upload such images to your own template and use them in the same way you are using the Country flags, but you can't mix the two flag sets in one profile field.

replace ranks/flags/
with templates/yourtemplatename/images/
|
Gimpy
|
So for example it would be /tempates/Quijibo/images ??

That cannot be the name of the template you have uploaded to, as that is a standard system template.

no. templates/myff_thetent1/images is a directory/folder. So what you put will never get into that folder. It may be you need:
templates/myff_thetent1/images/{FLAGS}.gif
but it does depend on what you are doing. You really need to understand a bit more to succeed.

Cheers for the reply. What i am trying to do is use my own flag images as location flags. And then i could add more flags if requested by users.

You'd need 140+ images, all listed by lowercase 2 character country codes.
all the {flags} macro does is add in the country code. So /images/{FLAGS}.gif for the UK flag would be /images/uk.gif
You need to make sure you have them all though, or they won't show up correctly.

What!! I will have to upload that much
|

Ok got this working this way. If i put: /templates/myff_thetent1/images/uk.gif i get the uk flag up, but only the uk flag?
And if i put: /templates/myff_thetent1/images/wales.gif i get the wales flag, and oly the wales flag!
How do i get them in one file so the users can pick their country from the drop doen box???

Have allready did: /ranks/flags/{FLAGS}.gif. And the problem is with that is there isnt a few flags i need there, for example, i would like to add the Guernsey and Yorkshire rose flag but it isnt available on /ranks/flags/{FLAGS}.gif.

The guide is meant to teach you the principles, not exactly what to do.
|
Gimpy
|
I can do what the guide taught me but as i have said in previouse posts, i dont want to use the path: /ranks/flags/{FLAGS}.gif. I want to use my own, then i can add any flag i want when i want.
|
admin (no pm's please)

and we have told you the path

in an attempt to merely sum up this thread...
1) upload the flag files to a single folder (ex: templates/myff_thetent1/images/)
2) set the source for images to templates/myff_tetent1/images/{FLAGS}.gif
A macro (in this sense of the word) is simply a part of text that will be replaced with what the server tells it to. This would set the user's choice of country flag (in 2 letter form) in place of '{FLAGS}'. So if the user is from UK, "{FLAGS}" would instead show "uk".

Guys, i have tryed everything that you have suggested in this thread and nothing works?? Would it be easyer if i give you the images to add???
|
Gimpy

Any one?

You have to explain what you have done.
Using screenshots and links to the uploaded images, links to where you think they should be showing etc.
|
Gimpy
|
Ok here's where i uploaded the flags one by one.
And here's where i put the link,
The link being /templates/myff_thetent1/images/{FLAGS}.gif
|
admin (no pm's please)
|
So can you give a link to one of the uploaded images?
Can you link to where we can see the issue?
What is the value for FLAGS in someones profile?
|
Gimpy
|
this is the link to the wales flag: http://thetent.myfreeforum.org/te...es/myff_thetent1/images/wales.gif
|
admin (no pm's please)
|
Both my posts just now ask for a link to where we can see the issue.
e.g. a post where we have guest access and where the flag should be appearing.
|
Gimpy
|
Oh yes sorry.

FFS!!! I have just realised why it wasn't working!!! I alway selected the wales flag to see if it was working!! And do you
know why it wasn't working??? Because it wasn't a .gif file!!!! It was a bloody PNG file!!!!! Same as all the others except
the uk one! What a stupid wanker i am!!!!! LOL

Don't feel bad. It's actually a VERY common mistake. If you look at a set of images, you'd expect them to be the same type, but if a few are different and you pick one of those to test... then it looks like the whole thing is broken.
So, Good job finding the mistake!
