Template tshirt challenge

I rather like the new look template from phpbb3.

http://www.phpbb.com/community/index.php

A myff version would be worth a few t-shirts!
Nick(NR)

Work in progress:
http://portalogy.myfastforum.org/index.php

link colors and such, will work on putting each cat section into the bordered images.

I tell you what tho, that is a very detailed/complex template, class's defining the images for the search button and such.

Look like mine, will be a scaled down version?
admin (no pm's please)

You have to admit it is a nice looking template though!

I quite like the avatars etc being on the right.
Nick(NR)

got a fair bit more done today, index page now has a fairly similar appearance, each category can be collapsed as normal, will work on the header later on.

The big problem is the announcements and stickies not being separate here, but that wont matter a great deal and the users browsing this forum wont be in effect either.

Once the header is done, I'll move onto the view forum part.
admin (no pm's please)

I think that is already looking really good
Brandon

Beautiful, Nick
admin (no pm's please)

I just know I am going to be asking Nicks permission to base the support forum look on his work
Nick(NR)

logo is up along with that little nav bar thing, that I'll sort the links to tommorow.
admin (no pm's please)

Are you using a MYFF.NAVBAR? that would make sense, it would integrate site and forum.
Nick(NR)

well, no I meant for the forum links, but I can throw that in on the same line as the board index, but I may scrap that as I had other plans for that line, of which you can now see.

the Memberlist | Usergroups | Profile | You have no new messages links will be hidden from view until logged in, as some require you to login and others give info openly, purposely done for member protection should there be a need for it, plus there's no point showing guests something they can't view.

Post buttons are now in, and I do say for my own work they do look almost identical.

I've also moved the light blue nav bar into the index body and have also placed it into the view forum body and view topic body, the reason for this is so when you enter a particular section you will see the sections title next to the board index link, similar to how it worked next to the post icons.
admin (no pm's please)

Don;t know if I was clear, I was thinking of a NAVBAR for the bit that says,

About Downloads Customise Support Development Community

Basically to create a forum that integrates with its web pages.
Nick(NR)

I was gonna put that in when I get a proper logo.
admin (no pm's please)

Good news that

Wonder how interesting the CSS will be, remember you can use:

{MYFF.NAVBARLIST class="toplinenavbar"} and it will expand to:

<ul class="toplinelinenabbar"}
<li>...
<li>...
</ul>
Nick(NR)

I was going to use a similar css for the <ul> to that of the euphoric web template, as I think the image rollovers are very nice, will use <div class=""> for each button,

Do you just want the links for web pages, as they'd be useful here?

If so what pages are there?
admin (no pm's please)

Well by using NAVBAR and text rather than buttons it will dynamically adapt. Even if the look is not quite right, I think that is a better option.

If you are stuck, I will try it.
Nick(NR)

The viewtopic is giving me jip, every time I try and place the avatar and location....... parts to a new table, I doesn't appear, even with the class for that cell.

Code:
<span class="name"><a name="{postrow.U_POST_ID}"></a><b>{postrow.POSTER_NAME}</b></span><br /><span class="postdetails">{postrow.POSTER_RANK}<br />{postrow.RANK_IMAGE}{postrow.POSTER_AVATAR}<br /><br />{postrow.POSTER_JOINED}<br />{postrow.POSTER_POSTS}<br />{postrow.POSTER_FROM}</span>
Nick(NR)

The Login is now done, with mouse over effects

Will move onto the whois online, stats and birthdays another time.

As I am discovering big rewrites are a very large task.
Viper

Ah! I must have missed this. I have been working on a phpBB 3x style for phpBB 2x for a while now. Haven't had time to complete it but it's around 80% done. I'll try and get a demo up tonight and finish it off.

Well as I am finding the challenge is in the portals if you follow the "list" approach.
Viper

If this is something you were looking for then I will add the portals before giving you a download, save you some work :

It also has a lot of admin side cosmetics. You may want to get rid of that if you want.
admin (no pm's please)

If you manage one it would be great to have it available

and i would really like to compare notes on approaches.

Idea- have a new category in the "add templates" in the drop down box "PhpBB3 Look A-likes"?
Viper

Still working on this portal. It's a pain in the arse.
admin (no pm's please)

Tell me about it ie is doing me head in.
Nick(NR)

Was gonna say my index is done and as far as getting a portal up no problem, will do an example tomorrow.

May throw in the recently online after the legend.

I'm off to bed now. Been working on this for hours. Adding more things along the way, e.g. a nice little PM's tab when viewing profile, and profile 'panels' which can be accessed in one click.

I forgot to show you viewtopic aswell, and as you asked for, the user details on the right.

Screenshot of viewtopic:

I think I'm going to spend a bit more time on this. Possibly release it on Thursday/Friday if it's ok to wait.

How did you get around this?

Its saying the images are expired.
admin (no pm's please)

I have only fully got around it with a version of the template in the office.

But it does seem that a lot of my problem was that sometimes I had the clever lists in a table cell and other times they were on their own. This meant that the css bug fixes for the lists where trying to get things right across all browsers with the lists in two different contexts.
Once I made sure that all lists were in a cell, then it all started working.

If you want the CSS I can get it to you.

Ok, yeah, if you don't mind.

Thanks.
Viper

Make-shift portal done!

admin (no pm's please)

So how close are you to completion? and how close is yours to mine I wonder?
I doubt I will release for a week.
Viper

Fingers crossed, tomorrow morning/mid afternoon.

A lot of the admin style is buggy, so I think I'll hold back on that part for a while.
admin (no pm's please)

Well a myff template does not use the admin bit at all, as that is global to all forums.
Viper

Sorry about the lateness, but I've spotted a bug on the memberlist page. Fixing it now.

Demo will be up later.
Viper

And looking at the template which is on here, on memberlist, it says 'Location' where it should be 'Website'.
admin (no pm's please)

Just working on those cosmetics, having converted memberlist and viewonline to use lists.

It is no 5 minute job, as I am sure we both appreciate.
Viper

Demo link in signature. Have a look, see if you like it. Any bugs you see, let me know, I'll fix them.

Will get you a download link if you want.
admin (no pm's please)

It is looking good, better than here in some parts, worse in others.

It will be good to have both as templates here.

But best to wait until you are reasonably confident! I did do a quick ie7/ff check on your template but it does seem okay
Viper

Well I am reasonably confident now. I've emailed a download link to you.
admin (no pm's please)

thanks,

shall we call it viperProSilver?

and make it available to all?
Viper

Just call it proSilver if you want.

And yes.
admin (no pm's please)

Viper wrote:

Well it wasn't purely about postitive accreditation Everyone and their Aunty is likely to release a take on proSilver, hence I am calling mine mjProSilverPortal and I suppose logically yours should be viperProSilverPortal.
admin (no pm's please)

Being deployed now, fancy a t-shirt? PM me details!
