So was that UK only or what? For an hour there access was tough across all servers
I'm 99.9% sure it was connectivity but how wide spread was it?

My forum went down for over an hour tonight, which is really bad! I also had problems gaining access to it yesterday for a time. Even now, it is still slow.
I tried to get on here to report it, but this site was also down.
It has happened for the majority of people on my forum too.
Just a question, was this a once off, or do you predict it happening again?

The internet is a bit like that, even with servers with the speed we have, there is still a lot of things between you and the servers effecting how fast things go.
Our servers I think managed okay, despite being flooded with requests as people struggled to access, the question is was this local to the UK but with people elsewhere being hit by the flooding, or nearer the servers in the USA so everyone was getting hit?
Whatever it was it was beyond our control, as for it happening again, we get something like this every few months, it is just the way of the net.

^ I'm in Ireland and have member on my forum from the UK and America. I know some of the UK users were affected too. There hasn't been a post on my forum tonight, when usually we are very busy between 8-10 pm so I am guessing that almost everyone was affected.

A failure of a circuit between our Cedar Falls and Chicago datacenters is causing some network issues for some customers as the traffic load in the two datacenters is redistributed. Due to this redistribution, one of the smaller circuits in the Cedar Falls datacenter is being saturated as our network team works to evenly distribute the traffic load across all of our circuits. This saturation is resulting in increased latency for our Cedar Falls customers at this time.
Our network team is working as quickly as possible to balance out traffic levels, and restore service on the failed inter-datacenter circuit. We will post further updates as they become available.

that's where we are, so this was global.

Oh and in non technical terms, new fat pipes, adding more redundancy and speed should be installed within the next month or so
