I just found out... my ISP is one of the ones that blocks outgoing SMPT to other servers.  I just got a new server set up, tried to get the SMTP working, and it would work from the board and the DNS test here had it working... finally got the message pop-up giving me a 10060 error, which I found means the ISP won't let me connect.

So, I ended up having to use my ISP's SMTP, not that it's a problem, but was annoying to try and figure out.
