Hello from Jagex,
I work within Community Management for the massive multiplayer online game RuneScape (www.RuneScape.com).
I have discovered that you host a forum at http://rs2cheating.myfreeforum.org which undertakes or facilitates trading in RuneScape items / accounts, the distribution of bots / macros to enable cheating at RuneScape, and the use of copyrighted images without our permission.
Such behaviour damages our game and infringes our intellectual property and other legal rights.
I would be very grateful if someone could look at this forum with a view to having it removed.
Thank you for your time, and I look forward to your response.
Sincerely
Mohammed Khan

Cheating forums also break our own terms and conditions. Hence this forum has been suspended.

I must be careful about what mods I put up for my clan then. Goes to show how stupid some people are.

There are two issues here.
1. What is for want of a better word "ethical".
e.g. are the mods considered by other players as legit, or are they there to give you an unfair advantage and thus wreck other peoples enjoyment of the game.
2. Are there legal/copyright issues over images etc.
Now this get a complicated area, there are vast numbers of copyright violations on the net, and a lot of the time a forum using a graphic from a game may be in technical breach, but no one is going to care or complain.
From our point of view though an official complaint from a legit source will make us ask forums to remove copyright violations. Mostly it won't be a cause for suspension and the intention of the forum will probably be legit.
As with all these things, if you think "nice" then your forum will be ok. We make our living from forums, we don't want to suspend them.

Since i am a runescape player i could answer these.
There are NO MODS for runescape. Its played through browsers so the servers they have is what holds information. Bots or macroing is using a program to paly for you, which Jagex has systems to catch and ban the player using it.
The images is a tricky one. http://kbase.runescape.com/lang/e...pe/viewarticle.ws?article_id=2421 that explains it.
Also i would watch what files get uploaded on rs fan forums. though mostly legit many players have a thing to give out keyloggers...

In other words it was plain cheats, and they could have used legit images but didn't.

Also in the letter it said trading accounts, which is also against the rules as many people get scamed that way.

See, this whole thing is bulls**t. Anyone who does this is definately someone who hates how other people play the game. Unfair advatages suck. Unless you're on a single player type deal against a bunch of AI programs. But when it's an mmo.. then you draw the line at single player s**t.
