Posting members photos without consent

Hi, I was wondering if it is against the law for a forum to post photos of ex members on a forum, with the persons consent?
Viper

I do not believe there is a law regarding this.

Moved to term and conditions...

We would need more info on this i believe, as if you have already posted the pictures on the forum , you are giving that forum permission to display those pictures.

Also some links to the problem may be useful.

The forum and thread in question is   http://swapitshoplounge.co.uk/Wowzaa_BbZ__about25497.html  The persons photo is taken from bebo without his permission. There is also a kind of hate campian going on within another thread against the said ex member of that forum.. Even the mods and admin have partook in this campain.. I just find it very distasteful TBH
Symon

Clear to me his picture has been taken form his bebo account with out permission , and therefore i would say not ethical to post it.

However the said owner of the photo should really request it to be removed form the forum, if they get no joy then get them to post here.

Admin would advise more.

Thanks, for the advise. But I don't think the said ex-member is aware of the photo being used.. He was banned awhile ago. It also appears I have been banned from there for requesting it to be taken down??

Lets hope admin from MFF can do something..

Thanks.
admin (no pm's please)

This is really pretty petty stuff, and we do not micro manage forums.

If a forum is run in a poor fashion then it will tend to deal with itself by it members leaving.

copyright wise, it has to be the copyright holder that complains.

Sorry you see these types of things as petty.  If you will only do something about if the said member complained, then your terms and conditions don't hold water.

So what you are saying then is, that if it was race related, the intended victim of said race would have to inform you and complain before you done anything? That to me is what you're saying!!!

You're not worth your salt m8, and should not be in the possition you hold!!

Well not quite the right response from you there.

If you wish to see things happen, having a childish rant at the only person that can (and Has Done in the past) is like shooting yourself in the foot.

Clearly admin has said that the complaint has to come form the owner of the picture, how do we know he just doesn't give a damm and is ignoring it ?

And petty as i would guess over 90% of all post in terms and conditions are about swapit forums. And 98% of those are childish squabbles.

Setting up false arguments about what we would do on other circumstances is silly.

Anyone can read that thread and see that it does not fall under our "hate forum" terms and conditions.

It may be poor behaviour, but it is at a level where it is best dealt with by the members.

I appologise for the rant, and I see what you're trying to say. Although I don't agree with, I do however see it from you point.

I just saw what was happening on there as cyber bullying against an ex member.

Sorry again for the rant earlier.
