Phpbb3 upgrades availableThis is available in the control panel for a small % of forums.Anyone using this should be aware that they may be the first person using it on a particular server with a particular myff domain forum, and that this process has only been tested on a few forums so far. So be cautious, and be quick to report issues. If an issue occurs simply trying again is not going to help! |

In the control panel in the phpbb2/phpbb3 tab. But it is all down to luck of the draw. | ||

...just to confirm, should one chose an upgrade, the origanal phpbb2 forum will remain (intact) and a phpbb3 variant will be made for the testing....?
I'de hate to lose my bb2 forum but love to see it in bb3 format... |

I think the control panel dialog makes it clear.
You will not lose your phpbb2 forum. |

the text has changed a couple of times and what's there now isn't as detailed as a previous version... but nevertheless.... I'm one of the 90% 
is the 10% a random selection ? |

Not random in the sense that you may see it if you try again.
Each forum has a number and it is based on the last two digits of that number being above 90, so it is actually currently 9% being allowed. |

still no upgrade option... i'm happy to wait but if it was simple and you were able to select which forums were on the upgrade list i'd be happy to give it a whirl ? | ||

There was no link or button so i went back to control panel and have two options Continue previous or start a fresh one. |

Start a new one, as actual errors like you saw should not occur, and so continue will not arise normally. | ||

Ok followed it though and followed the link to the site,

So will it be normal to lose your original template say myff_whatever1 Which means you would lose any edits or portals ? I cant find my orgnail in templates or styles,, is this a cant adapt phpbb2 to phpbb3 templates ? |

phpbb2 templates are completely and utterly different to phpBB3 templates. You could not start to automatically convert them. | ||

Is it good or bad luck though, Symon found problems, Archers_rest is finding a problem. The problems are of course being rapidly fixed, but why have loads of people going through it? | ||

I am allowing all forums to try upgrading now.
it is not that all problems are clearly solved, but more that as we are not advertising the fact outside of the support forum, the take up is quite manageable, well almost not happening really! |

I'm away from home right now but will be performing an upgrade this evening and advising my members of the phpbb3 version... so hope to add to the support network with regard to reporting of issues and the resolution to them. many thanks admin

Could there possibly be an option to preview your forum as phpBB3? Because if I were to switch my forum to phpBB3, I would want to test it out first, see what it looks like, etc. | ||

Thank you for choosing my forum for the upgrade option. I have done so this morning. So far so good no errors to report as yet. I have a bit of tweeking to do to get it looking the way i want. I'm very impressed wqith the new layout of the acp. I noticed on the templates that there are no preview pictures is this something that will be added later? I'll report any errors or problems i have straight away in the mean time i've got some work to do before the final switch.

Just hit the first problem. In phpBB2 when i created a copy of a template there was never any problem but in phpBB3 it does not allow you to create a template copy with a name longer than 30 characters. This is a major prolem for me as i cannot do any editing. Would it or is it possible to adjust this. | ||

Because when i try to copy a template it gives me 4 of my template 1 - 4 to choose from. But their names are danglyendchronicles.myfastforum.org1. Which is 38 characters long. | ||

I am still confused.
I just went in to your forum and it seemed to copy a template to : danglyendchronicles.myfastforum.org4 without an error. Where do you see the error. I had to search around for the forum link as you did not give it! |

Sorry i should have given you the link. Humble appologises. When it asks you if you want to activate it and/or make it the default it comes up with a red screen telling me the name is to long. So it's stuck and i can't install it. | ||

should be fixed. I have altered your default style, you will need to revert it.
I have simply overridden the limit, there seems to be no database limit of 30, so I do not see why the check is there. |
