Hello again

Is it at all possible to embed a shout box onto a phpbb3 forum?  A few of my members have been asking for one.  I have made a few attempts at adding codes from various sites such as cbox with no success.

I have read through this thread http://forum.myfreeforum.org/ftopic5120-0.php which suggests a few sites but none of them work for me.  On using myshoutbox.com it seemed to completely erase the template and after I stopped hyperventilating I had to re copy it.

On the other occasions it doesnt show at all and just hides the admin control panel link.

I would appreciate greatly your advice, thank you.

Probably poor placement of the code in the template.

in the footer just before /body would be best I think

Thank you for replying to me so quickly (again) sorry for being a pain asking constant questions!

I just entered the cbox code where you suggested and it didnt show, and hid/disabled the admin control panel link.  I'm at a loss with it.

Show the code you ended up with in the template here (using [code][/code] tags around it.
The Cynical Hermit

Code:
<!-- BEGIN CBOX - www.cbox.ws - v001 -->
<div id="cboxdiv" style="text-align: center; line-height: 0">
<div><iframe frameborder="0" width="200" height="305" src="http://www5.cbox.ws/box/?boxid=795432&amp;boxtag=5nvw33&amp;sec=main" marginheight="2" marginwidth="2" scrolling="auto" allowtransparency="yes" name="cboxmain5-795432" style="border:#ababab 1px solid;" id="cboxmain5-795432"></iframe></div>
<div><iframe frameborder="0" width="200" height="75" src="http://www5.cbox.ws/box/?boxid=795432&amp;boxtag=5nvw33&amp;sec=form" marginheight="2" marginwidth="2" scrolling="no" allowtransparency="yes" name="cboxform5-795432" style="border:#ababab 1px solid;border-top:0px" id="cboxform5-795432"></iframe></div>
</div>
<!-- END CBOX -->
myff admin

That cannot properly be all of your footer template.

Have you wiped the existing footer code out?
The Cynical Hermit

Oh ok, sorry I misunderstood, that is just the code from their website.  My entire footer with the Cbox code is:

Code:
<div style="text-align:center;"><!-- IF U_ACP --><br /><br /><span class="gensmall">[ <a href="{U_ACP}">{L_ACP}</a> ]</span><br /><br /><!-- ENDIF --></div>

   <!-- IF not S_IS_BOT -->{RUN_CRON_TASK}<!-- ENDIF -->
</div>

I can't see any reason for that not to work.
The Cynical Hermit

Hm ok, but I can assure you it doesnt.  I just tried it again putting exactly as above and nothing shows at all, it just hides the admin control panel button.
The Cynical Hermit

I have now successfully managed to include a shout box on my site, and it looks great http://talkinggeekonline.com/index.php

I thought I would come on to finish this thread off stating what I did wrong incase others are searching.

On the Cbox website http://www.cbox.ws/getone.php you have 3 options when you click get code.  The first option is Step 1: Where are you installing your Cbox?  I had chosen 'forum' not really looking at the other options.  Obviously, the correct option to choose would be PHPBB3.x  My mistake really was that simple...as am I!
