Its a demo of the new PHPBB 3.0 Beta.

It looks bloody amazing!

I have used it, is has a few decent features, but is over complex and has NO upgrade path to the actual release version whenever that appears.

People wanting a secure and reliable forum will be much better off with phpbb2 for some considerable time.

When a version with a guarenteed upgrade path comes out, we will offer it here. But it won't be recommended as the best way for people for some time after that.

The Beta3/RC1 should be released soon. The developers aren't giving much away though. All they are saying is there will be no update between the betas or the last Beta to RC1.

The final release should be early 2007.

Who really wants or needs half a dozen options controlling the appearance of the regstration image confirmation box? That's just one example of overcomplex administration.

It's a moot point, people will always want the latest regardless of whether it really is better

Hence as soon as offering phpbb3 can be considered at all a responsible thing to do in terms or upgrades, security and basic stabilty (e.g. forums that don't self corrupt and die) we will make it available. Not to do so would mean we would eventually wither and die.
