RoRap

Just a local community forum that was created when another local forum was banning anyone who didn't agree with the admin or his political stance. A small but growing board that's got a lot of help from the admin's and members of this site. http://roanokevalleyrap.myfreeforum.org/ or www.rorap.net for short. The domain name was $2.99 for a year and you just forward everything from rorap.net to the freefourm.org. So simple even we could do it.

Shameless promotion.
Viper

Shameless bump Wink
Cap'n Slappy

whatever we have to do to keep us in the public's eye, right?
Symon

the fact that you dont let free email address sign up might have something to do with you not having a fllod of people joining Wink
Cap'n Slappy

That's kind of the idea Symon, quality not quantity.

You should rename the forum 'dodgems' with all the bumping going on around here

Seriously make a pointless update or I'll be forced to do something I don't want to. I know just posting how many members you have and how many posts you have is boring, but don't forget to mention any new things that have been added, all of it hides the bump and keeps me happy.

I hate people that have no update, if everybody else bumped their forum as well you'd be down on page 4 or lower hide the bump behind an update in future please.

And if I may, disallowing free emails in no way guarantees quality. In fact, I would say the contrary.

Free emails are usually used by experienced internet users.
Paid ones are quite often what comes with the package offered by your ISP, I have ten paid email addresses and dont use any of them.

I would allow all email addresses and just ensure you moderate your board correctly to keep the quality you desire.

On one of my forums I am the strictest admin going, on the others, I am one of the loosest admins, it just depends on your board and the quality you desire.

Just advice mate, take it or leave it

So far the requirement for the paid email address has worked very well. It's only used to verify that the person has an email service provider of some sort. Most people in our area have their own provider. There are no internet cafe's here. It also cuts down on the spam posts from all of the porn and drug company's. We do realize that some people may not have a paid service so if that person contacts the admin we can normally work something out. It's been our experience that trolls and spammers don't like to take the trouble of going through the admin to get access. I've told others on this forum I'd rather have 15 members that contribute on a regular basis to the forum than 1500 that just sign up and leave. I'm not concerned with the numbers at all. We average picking up one or two members a month that contribute.

See much better than a *BUMP* isn't it.
Cap'n Slappy

Basically the same effect.
Kasey

Shhhhh! They might hear you....

And I prefer non-paid addresses. If you move or switch internet companies the paid address usually changes and you have to try and get everyone to change you address. Pretty much it's a great big mess.

Exactly, I dislike people who *bump* as it is not fair for those people above them to be pushed down for no reason and think if those people down on page 5 or 6 decided to *bump* what page would your forum be on. That is why I keep saying if your gonna bump your forum, then hide the bump behind an update, that way I have no reason to remove any *bump*s and push the thread back to the page it was on, it keeps things fair.
Cap'n Slappy

Why do you say its not fair? Don't they have the same opportunity as I do to come to this forum and post? I don't bump it everyday or every week for that matter. I usually bump it when I come to this forum for some other reason and I wouldn't do it if I hadn't picked up a few members from here.

RoRap will be one year old on October 25th and still going strong. The Admin gave us ALOT of help in the beginning and continues to give great support.
