my web hostI've got a phpbb2 forum with one of my sites, and emailed my webhost for help as when a new member tried to join it said "please enter correct confirmation code" yet one was not shown. and heres the reply i got.

Hi Mike,
Got to step in here. This is getting out of control.
Our ToS states that we will only support the scripts that we supply. That means scripts that are installed out of Fantastico. You elected to install a version of phpBB that we didn't provide so you're on your own with that. By rights we should not have helped you install it for two reasons:
1. Running outdated software is a security risk. There were a raft of changes made between phpBB2 and phpBB3 and your site is a security risk on our server right now, and
2. It's not something we provided....

Yes he was, not in so much as phpbb3 is a security risk, but that anything you are maintaining yourself is a big risk to server security. This is why we are very restrictive in allowing people to host on our servers.
