Ok... I submitted my url to google and yahoo searches... but I don't understand about how to do the sitemap thingy... Is this something that would help my forum to show up on a search or is it more of a statistics thing?

If so... it looks like I have to be able to code... and I'm uh... code illiterate... Or maybe I'm just misunderstanding the directions?

I think you are reading general google tips for sites. Don't worry about sitemaps they are not relevent to forums.
