Oh my lord...
I have a suggestion, lok through the varoius threads and find out who recently had their forum trashed by a rogue mod or admin and and find out who that person was. Get that person to join your forum and make them a mod. It will take all the wondering who has trashed your forum when it happens. I have 12 mods in one forum (that allows public posting) and one mod and myself cover the the rest of the entire forum. I have over 300 members and have known each of my mods for at least 12 years in person. |

well could sign up first, then they could prove them self then latter become mods. I dunno hey Im new to this thing so I dont really know alot of things but what I do know is that 1 admin can not do everything. | ||||||

I do, Symon does, Billgar does, Viper does (I think) and Admin does as well as loking after everyone else's forum!
u1bd2005, yours was one of them and he was just a rogue mod... a rogue admin can do the same damage and more with one mouse click! |

Ridiculed... really? No, this is advice that you need to listen to and act on or you will be back here saying you have been 'hacked' and paying for a forum backup.
You have 2 choices... listen to experience (you have already said you are a newbie) or suffer the consequences of your ill advised action. |

You don't need 24/7 cover. Look at your security and think... should this be registered members only? Try making a post in my forum. There is only one forum I allow guest posting. You can read almost all of the forum but only post when you register.
If I don't know the person, they'll not get any chances if they spam me. If I know the person, they get a friendly PM and their post deleted. Any arguments and I use the big red button that says 'Do not press'. |

Yeah its not that I need cover and I do understand what you are saying but I need to update alot of info everyday like the various sports ladders and tables and it gets hard sometimes when I work.
But you guys do have very valid and good point about just letting somebody be mod. |

thats a rule with any forum don't give them powers if you don't trust them i certainly don't only some of my very good friends get it. |

What dag and the rest say is true on forums i run i've only hired people i trust 100% otherwise it could cause heaps of trouble and cause the forum to run into the ground almost instantly

I'm also the only admin/mod on my forum at this moment in time, the way I see it is that I don't need any right now, if members have problems they can either post or pm and wait for a reply. the bigger the forum gets you will eventually need a moderator or two to cover the increasing amount of topics, but choose your mods wisely maybe some you have known for a long while could help you out. |
