Meta DirectoryGround has just been broken on a replacement for the directory of forums, the replacement will list all forums worth listing on all myff domains.
This will give some search engine benefits to listed forums.
I expect it will appear sometime this coming week.

This is beginning to come together, but has expanded beyond its original scope so may be a little slower in arriving.
I have decided it may as well become a "meta management" system as well as a meta directory system.
Currently all the different forums systems have their own own independent management systems, and naturally on some levels that makes sense, but also having a master control system would make life easier as the number of different forums systems increases.

You say worth listing?
So i take it spam forums will be chopped ?
In what order will this go on members posts alphabet etc.

we do as you know mark offenders as not to be listed, but that is still a manual process. Appearance wise at least to start with it will be much the same as the current directory, but listing all forums.

Well something of a meta directory is working in the office
So I think we are on course to have it done and dusted by the end of the week.
Next thing is to write a slave mode so not all domains will need to know about all other domains, they will simply read a master that has all the details.

Well all the master salve stuff and update code seem done now, and I'm running a meta directory with somewhat more working functionality than the old one
Will still probably be testing and tweaking until the end of the week though as Saturday morning remains the ideal time for installing stuff.

Did we lose the ability to get stats on the sites?

Those stats were never much good, so have now gone.
You can use facilities like statcounter.com to get better stats for free.

I used them all the time! That is a real shame!
Why do you say they were not good? Were they incorrect or what?
How would I use this "statcounter.com" thing?
Please advise.
Thanks.

The sampling rate was poor and the implementation left much to be desired technically.
I recall reading on the statcounter site that they themselves went through several incarnations in attempting to do the stats job right.
So my feeling has drifted to letting people who have loads of experience in the area do the job.
I am sure you can find out from their site how to use them. Or you could start a thread here. They can be used on myfreeforum forums, but I can't tell you how as I have not used them myself.

OK... I registered with them. Now I have the StatCounter Code to insert. So, what file do I insert it in? They say to insert it in the body. So, do I put it in overall_header.tpl or index_body.tpl or where? I can't find a body tag in either file. HELP, PLEASE!
| Quote: | | Put the code just above the </body> tag as shown below (or anywhere else between the <body> and </body> tags if you know what you are doing) |
Another thing. Does our website use frames?

and since you are mixing threads, we are getting complaints about you spam emailing, your forum may be suspended if we continue to get complaints.

With the new directory, we have fallen from number 17 to number 87! How'd that happen?!

Because all the forums are now listed across all the domains.
