link problemswww.pi.myfastforum.org aka hunts.2fear.com
sorry if this a stupid question !!
when i add a link or url to a post when you click on it , it doesnt open a new page but instead takes you away from the forum to the link destination.
is it something simple in the board settings ive missed ?? if so can some one just tell me where to find the option to change it
might sound minor to you guys but its a pain in the jacksie .
so to sum it up ... i want my link to open in a new page/tab and to leave the forum page .
hope it makes sense and that some one can assit me
thanks

Personally I have not spotted this option in phpbb3.

so woiuld you say theres not much i can do about it. very disapointed
but its still worth having phpBB3 for all the other better features
lol
is this something that is likely to change in the future

I'd tend to agree the phpbb2 behavior is better, and this would be very easy to change for bbcode links, and unlike most attempts to fix phpbb3 something that should not cause a problem.
Anyone else have a view?

Just noticed this myself and was hoping you could alter it to allow clickable links to open in a new window.

Try CTRL+click or clicking links with your centre mouse button.
Does that work for you?

I have implemented a version of the code in Symons link, but changed it so that existing styles are also catered for. If people want to change the bbcode behaviour they will have to edit bbcode.tpl under "templates".
I am a little depressed by this, I do not think that phpbb2 ever attempts in the php to back convert what is generated by the bbcode, by doing so you create an imbalance, .e.g you create something people are encourage to edit, but which then may break things in an unexpected fashion

I've got into the habit of right click and new tabbing every link I see, people should do the same in all honesty. makes for good practice now browsers have tabs, may as well use them.

I never use left click on links i've always used right and new tab. Thats what their for. If your copying data from one place to another, say, HOWTODOIT, you've got to back page a couple of times and then forwards again. So much easier to click on one tab then the other.
