We have a few such tweaks in our system, I guess you got them from the same thread on phpbb.com I did 
You need to be a little wary, as not all such tweaks are quite bug free. Having gone through a lot of thought on a lot of such tweaks, we have largely taken the decision that it is better to throw money at the issue of speed with bigger servers than get too bleeding edge on the optimisation front. Coming from me that qualifies as a very weighty statement, anyone who has worked with me, knows I am a total fiend on the optimisation front as a rule. |
