Now some are quite trivial, but some like template editing or the portal concept in general are massive in scope and worth much more than any individual hack elsewhere.
The list also obviously excludes the sophisticated overall forums management system that keeps everything running smoothly across multiple servers. This might not seem to matter much, but a lot of the competition run noddy scripts that are guaranteed to break down if they were ever to succeed in managing the numbers of forums we carry.
I have a feeling this list is far from complete, but the nature of our system means that a lot which would be highlighted in someone else list, does not qualify for ours. e.g. the NEWSFADER is quite fancy, but is only an example use of a portal MENU, I can see the RATING component being used several times in different guises on some forums, but here it still will only qualify as being one component.

What does"Database Maintenance" do? I read that it:

Nothing anyone need worry about unless they have errors, would you really be any the wiser if I tried to explain the ins and outs of the phpbb2 database structures?

I did notice that option causes log in cookies to terminate and you would have to re log in when you click that.

Well session tables are one source of errors and they do get cleared. better everyone has to login again than critical database error popping up.
It should be noted that incidents that need this routine to run, are so few and far between as to be invisible. I have had I think to do manually what this routine does once in almost 2 years.
