IMPORTANT: Everydns.net users

If you are effected by this you will receive a newsletter via email in the next few days.

Some forums running their own domain names were manually set up by us using the everydns.net DNS service.

This is or rather was a 3rd party service which has been bought out and will be discontinued by them on August 31st.

Hence your domains will stop working.

The solution to this is to reply to this thread verifying your myff domain name, and own domain name. We will then verify that this domain is correctly set up on our own namerservers.

ns1.myff.org
ns2.myff.org
ns3.myff.org
ns4.myff.org

and you will then need to change to the above nameservers at your domain registrars.

Sorry for any inconvenience but this is out of our hands.

Having worked through the list I think only a couple of  forum sites:

caribbeanmix.net
narutorpcenter.com

Are still live and using everydns.net

There was also a whole lot of dregs from ten years of using everydns.net for other domains.

But everyone should now have had a warning email, so the ball is now in their court.

Hi admin, im sure were using this,

http://rangersonlineloyal.wonko.myfastforum.org

www.rangersonlineloyal.co.uk

please advise if this is the case.
myff admin

You are right.

It needs sorting.

Odd I would have sworn that I did a test and figured you were off the service.

Sorry.
perthtruebluetwo

So what do i have to do now admin?

Your help would be appreciated.
myff admin

Read the initial message, you need to set the nameservers at your registrars.
perthtruebluetwo

Had the first commercial casualty with this tonight as an Ecommerce site went offline. It seems everydns.net may be flaking out early.
Fortunately I was email to phone the owners and get them to get it sorted, and the site got back online quite quickly.

Hi, I am the admin of narutorpcenter.com.  Sorry for the late response, I have been really busy with college preparation.  What do I need to do to avoid going offline?
myff admin

Just read the first post. You need to change your nameservers at the registrar for your domain.

I am a member of this forum:

http://thebigideas.zaphod.myfastforum.org/index.php

Our Admin is unresponsive as usual, so I am seeing if you can answer this question.

A few days ago I had trouble logging in to the forum and a message flashed up, took up the entire screen, saying something to the effect that the forum would be moving to a new platform effective September 9 (I think it was) and that several notifications had already been sent to our Admin, but if no action was taken the forum would be closed down.  I wasn't able to log on at that time, but tried later and was able to get on.

Is this the same thing you're talking about here?  Is our forum one of the ones affected?

If our Admin is not responsive I would like to put in a bid to be the Admin of our forum.  I did this once before and suddenly Admin appeared, very irate, and I was accused of trying to highjack the forum, even by yourselves.

That was never my purpose, we have a nonpresent Admin.  I would like to keep the forum from shutting down, it has become a communication link for some people.

The message was this?

Quote:
This forum address has been redirected temporarily, for now it includes [zaphod] this may be due to the forum upgrading to phbb3 or the forum being moved to our newer server. You do not need to take any action, your forum address will revert back to normal in a day or two. In the mean time please do not bookmark or publish the temporary link.

If so, it's just what it says, no action needs to be taken, and it says not to bookmark or publish the temporary link which you just published.  You just need to use this link:

No, I've seen that message before.  This one is different and states that several messages have been sent to the Admin and that action needs to be taken.

So, to your knowledge, nothing is wrong with our forum and it won't be shutting down September 9?

I can't imagine...I wonder if it could've been some sort of virus or something?

Okay, I replaced the link I was using with the one you posted.  Hopefully it was related to that somehow, and the forum will not be closing down.  If that message pops up again, I will copy it...I wish I'd had the presence of mind to do it before.

Thanks.

My forum is http://narutorpcenter.myfastforum.org
I use the domain http://narutorpcenter.com through m4webdesign.

I changed my nameservers from everydns to:

NS1.MYFF.ORG
NS2.MYFF.ORG
NS3.MYFF.ORG
NS4.MYFF.ORG

The domain still does not work, however I believe it is just because you guys need to verify this, or something.  Thanks.
