I need a name for a portal site!I want to write a howtodoit style site, dedicated not to the forums, but to managing web servers.I started off myfreeforum from a position of having a bucket load of Linux and other experience, but all the same I was thinking this morning that I know a hundred things now I wish I had known a year back! So what would be a snappy name? |

Not sure it will interest most people, and of course another reason for not showing it off until it has quite a lot in in, is that it will cover security. Much of security is about obscurity, I want a reasonable mass of general security posts to help mask how the servers are actually secured.
Hopefully when I do launch it will be a good example of how to go about a launch. |

Well actually a myfastforum. It makes a perfect template for me to build a site and or forum with the portal code. I believe you will soon be able to create really hot web sites on the free forums system alone, and there is no substitute for trying to do this yourself to see what is needed. Of course the grand total of 5 posts so far is not enough to show yet, though we get people showing off less.

Iv'e not actually gone through the forum creation process in quite this way before, so it is actually a learning curve for me

Only 1 member. Actually it is a useful resource in a way already, it may only be 23 posts, but if you think of that as 23 things I really wish I had known before managing a web server all in a condensed form, then that ain't too shabby. I would have loved a one page guide to beating a DOS attack etc. |

Only when it would not get a slapping if some other newbie posted it. 24 posts and no logo, looks too lame for anyone to bother to look and see there is actual quality there. Always try and look through a customers eyes. |
