OMG!A couple days ago,the admin of that forum went to a site I'm an admin on and asked people to sign up so they could be mods there. 
I declined.Anyways,isn't making a forum called "Swap it Shop" already copying Mike? |

I don't think any one can claim exclusive rights to the term "swapitshop" but what they can and should do is to make their own forum from scratch.
My biggest forum was started out of another forum where people had become in need of something new, and there was plainly going to be a lot of overlap. But we sure as hell didn't copy forum titles or posts, and in fact went to every length we could to avoid anyone being able to say we were ripping off the original forum. Cut and Paste merchants are lazy thieves. |

What is swapitshop all about anyway? They are very popular forums but I haven't the faintest idea what they are about

Best way to describe it is ebay for kids. However no money is exchanged, ok you have say a new watch you dont want it so you put in on the swapit shop website and people will bid for it with their points,, you get points for selling things and you get free points in kids comics etc. Its meant to be a safe way for kids to swap their unwanted toys for points which they can use to buy other stuff on the site. |

None of the forums have anything to do with the proper swapitshop website as their rules state that no members should be able to contact each other.
However mike made the first and by far and large the better one. |

I have done the same sort of thing, but not as big, starting with 1p i had in my house, and using swapitshop, I now have enough to buy a car  and I havent had a job the whole time   hence all the time to run my forum, which may not be anywhere near the size of Mike's one, but I am still proud of it
if anyone doesn't like the idea of swapitshop, heres proof that you can get quite a lot of good stuff from there
