I've almost finished creating my very first forum (seems easy to start with then soon gets horribly technical . . . ). I started using PHPBB2 but shortly into the design, converted it to PHPBB3. But I've two questions;

1) The forum url above takes me to the PHPBB3 site but if I use a www address (www.westhay.ford3.myfastforum.org) it goes to what I assume is the PHPBB2 site. I want to give people a standard www address - can I do this and if so how ?

2) I get the following message permanently displayed on the home page;

You are accessing this forum with [ford3] as part of the url. This may be happening automatically following a move to a new server, or it may be something you are doing as part of a phpbb3 upgrade. If this is not part of an upgrade then be patient and do not bookmark the link, the old links will be working again shortly. If this is part of an upgrade then make sure the owner finalises it in the control panel and selects to redirect to this version of the forum, then once again the link will return to being the old one within 48 hours or so. NEVER BOOKMARK OR PUBLISH THIS LINK IT WILL NOT ALWAYS WORK.

I'm not quite sure what it means - do I need to do something and can I get it to disappear ?

When you convert to the phpbb3 version it will have the ford3 in it.  As long as the phpbb3 is the default then http://westhay.myfastforum.org will take you to the phpbb3 version.

The www brings you to the index portal.  To edit that you need to edit the cms_index.tpl

Thanks but I'm not that clear on the technical stuff.

1) How do I ensure the PHPBB3 is the "default"
2) Can I get rid of the PHPBB2 site completely ?
3) Any step by step instructions on the www bit ? When you here ads for websites it's always www.NNNNN I just wanted my site to be the same (a lot of users don't realise the http bit is there at all)
4) Any ideas about that warning message ?

You make phpbb3 the default in the control panel where you did the upgrade, doing that will sort the address out so you will not see the message.

Don't worry about the phpbb2 site, no one will see it when phpbb3 is properly set.

Until you finalise the upgrade and so do not use ford3 as part of the address the warning will show.
