How to embed a YouTube video into my PhpBB2 forum

My questions is not forum related but rather the code required to type in, to embed a YouTube video.

I have used the search feature and a few results came back, one was on the PhpBB3 board but my forum is using the PhpBB2.

All I need to know please is how to embed a video onto my forum. I simply want to create a posting and just have a YouTube video on the post for people to watch.

One of a few I would like to embed is

I have clicked the share and embed information, pasting this in doesn't work, so I know I am missing something. I have also searched Google, but having tried a few results, I still cannot embed a video.

I would like my fourm members to see a still of the video, with the play button in the middle for them to click on, like you see on many websites and forums.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thank you,

myff admin

You must give the (myfree/myfast/myfine) link/address of your forum. A link should be given to the problem if at all possible. Do this whether you think it is important or not. DO NO GIVE YOUR OWN DOMAIN LINK IT MUST BE THE NAME YOU CREATED HERE.

apologies, my free forum is

I tried that this afternoon and it says a plugin is needed to display the content. I have the latest flash, shockwave installed on my PC, so is it something that needs to be installed to my forum using the control panel, or something else missing at my end?

This is what I see

Just wondering if it is Java, as I have that disabled in Firefox, since it is supposed to be a security risk if enabled

I've just tried it in Explorer in case something was blocking the video in Firefox and Explorer will not play it using that code. It's trying to play the YouTube video using Windows Media Player using  video /video  (both with the brackets around them)  rather than playing the YouTube video in a screen.

I've also tried the same code in this type box, putting the link to a random YouTube video in the middle as it should be and I also see the same missing plugin message

I've just asked a friend to log into my forum to see if he can see the video post, he uses Chrome on a MacBook Air. He also sees an error message stating Flip4Mac is required to play it.
Seems odd that I can't embed a YouTube video to my forum for others to watch  Hope someone on here reading knows the answer.

Problems now sorted.
The youtube links being posted were https, alter it to http and the video links show.
Phew my brain needs a rest now. Something so simple, yet if you don't know and you are not use to the codes forums use, it makes it soooooo hard. Forum Index -> PhpBB2 General Support
